I couldn't agree more. I finished it as well yesterday night (game and DLCs) after some whopping ~16 hours (it was considerably longer than I expected), what a great experience. I'm left without clean pants available.
One of the best gaming experiences of the year for me, and the complete seal of approval for both perfectly nailing the atmosphere and the essence of Alien. It wasn't easy at all. Not to mention the combo graphics/iconic style & sound effects, simply brilliant with the attention to details that made me grin like a filthy bastard.
The gameplay was very solid as well, because despite being limited to 3-4 basic tasks, it never felt monotonous to me, and the good variety of scripts for the AI helped at making it seem believable. Cinematic but also free from constraints, and always encouraging improvisation. The story wasn't exactly "epic", but worked well all things considered, also thanks to the numerous references and great logs.
On hard, the final missions were pretty much like this for me:
god. damn. it!
My poor heart is still doing fine, but it was a matter of time really. 9/10 without a doubt.
well said ixi, every scene in the game, I had the smug face and practically had an internal monologue of circle jerk approval of the visuals, sound, details, etc
16 hours, you are fast. took me 24 hours for everything
The last survivor dlc was a bit better than crew expandable, but they're both so short I don't think either is necessary as a part of the game experience.
I did not believe in Creative Assembly, considering they make blood a DLC for their games ,
but the people they had working on this game earn my seal of approval

Great review This is certainly a serious GOTY candidate for me this year, only rivaled by Dark Souls 2 so far.
I can't climb the stairs in the hospital after the room blows up. This happened to anyone else? Ripley sounds like climbing but in reality she's on the floor, dying.

@ClaudeFTW Not to me. I couldn't find the ladder for a while though lol I didn't notice it with all the fire raging around.
Same here lol I cleared every room (some loot) and had to check it on yt (couldnt be bothered searching). When you jump on the ladder (not the stairs lol) press E few times, then she starts climbing normal (press up key) then again you have to jump on the other ladder and press E/up. Once or twice she felt to the ground even when I was pressing E crazy fast so its might be related to the time you spend in that room or some other factor.
Man, this game, never stops to fascinate me. I just finished the mission to restore the power in the KG348 lab. Well that must've been the most desperating sequence in the game so far. Now not only fighting the alien but also
Spoiler:
Full decompression and the possibility to be thrown into space
So Ripley manages to get out of that hairy situation and now...
