The "get a job" is snobby and you sound like an asshole if you say it that way, just because he states that he finds it expensive, apparently based on his experience/assumption.

See, isn't all that different and you still get your points across without belittling your conversation partner.

That's what you get when you post such an edgy desk!

We got a set up like that (sitting next to each other) over here, very basic:
http://www.ikea.com/se/sv/catalog/products/40240239/#/60251137 x2
http://www.ikea.com/se/sv/catalog/products/10192824/ x1 of those in the middle
And two legs on each end.
Way more modular options out there if you are a bit creative. I like it because it's minimalistic, not too much extras going on. And if you are a bit handy and got the tools you can modify it even more for cable management and such.
Haven't modified or gone crazy since this is just a 'temporary' apartment, I'll let 'Morph the builder' out when we get a house.

Thanks for the tip, we're just waiting til we move tho since right now the room doesn't allow for a bigger desk.
But that's pretty nifty and modular as you said, definetly going to have a look into it when we find a better flat (The girlie is mostly the one not wanting to do it yet since she says there's no room).

ISOAcoustics
However I'm thinking about making something out of steel at work. Need to find some flat alunimum too so I can bend it in the shap of a cresent so i can use it for a headphone stand.
