A financial update from publisher Take-Two today confirms what many gamers feared: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will not reach Xbox 360 and PC gamers this year.
According to the announcement, which offers lowered guidance for fiscal 2005 and 2006, Oblivion has been moved from the company's first quarter, which ends in January, to its second quarter -- February through April 2006.
For Q1 2006, the company now expects to post $300 to $350 million in net sales -- numbers which reflect the delay of Bethesda's ambitious RPG sequel.
So far, neither Take-Two nor Bethesda have offered reasons for pushing back Oblivion, though given the game's scope, many expected the title may not reach stores in time for holiday shopping.

I am perhaps the largest fan possibly of the elder scrolls series, but i will not be buying this now. When the devlead pete hines say they have the xbox360 launch date as the release of oblivion and he also says so on presentations of the game or of the xbox360, i just don't like being lied to from a guy who can keep a straight face about it, so this is a must download in 2006 for me and not a buy at all.

EDIT: sorry for the very extensive cursing.
I just hate it when good games get delayed. I can only hope that this was the publishers doing and not the developers, but delaying a game from a new console launch is a serious mistake. And of course, I hate being lied to about release date (the worst of the lot being Valve, cough cough)!

hehe, well atleast tak2 announched it like 1 a 1,5 month before the release. Unlike valve who did it like 1 day before it would be released  |

well great news i just read on the forum of bethsda that the game will ship on time 5/12/05 confirmed and gold:) by the way i just watched thosed vids they released on the site for the game and wow it looks simply amazing the graphics is to die for:)
hope it arrives here sooner then we expect it:)...................

I hoped that they would improve the animations in this game over Morrowind, but they still look like shit. The fighting looks so bad. The only thing that attracts me to this game is the graphics which aren't really even anything to go crazy over.
