HAAAAAAAAAAAA! Good joke! Everything you just said, it's completely different. It's shit on all fronts.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but that does not mean it's a correct one.

i still fail to see what engine has to do with bad game design to begin with, don't even remember Rage but Wolfenstein looked and was a decent time waster

Hopefully loading times are not a problem on PCs with SSD. And they patch the little bugs with hitboxes etc.

so i'd imagine if game was full screen aka how it's suppose to be not a cinematic bs it would run like a dog shit on consoles
again i can expect this to be on a console or wtv but not on pc, so yeah unless they are really gonna unlock at least screen size, not even talking about fps lock, i'm not even gonna bother with this game
btw fov is also fucked, similiar to RE6 fov where all you see is your characters behind while crouching |
I'm not sure what the reason for TEW black bars, but 2 other games also had black bars, Beyond: Two Souls and Dragon's Dogma. For Beyond it wasn't for better performance, since we had a patch that made it full screen 16/9, and it run the same with or without the patch, so it was a pure art decision.
For Dragon's Dogma it was obviously to make the game runs better, but even with the black bars DD runs bad, with lots of screen tearing and low fps.
Don't know about TEW, but anyway even if this is made to increase performance, this is not excuse! we had bigger and good looking games the run good on the old PS3/360 in full screen, say Max Payne 3 or Just Cause 2, and frankly most games runs good without black bars, and i see nothing special about TEW that black bars needed.

I know the hump loves conspiracy theories by evil game developers, but I doubt black bars are for performance sake. I mean, why not just render it at a slightly lower internal resolution and keep it 16:9 if that was the case? It's too much of an odd choice imho.
On the other hand, the 30fps cap is obviously because they couldn't manage to make it run at 60 on consoles, that's pretty obvious.

Black bars are not there for performance reasons in this game.
Mikami made RE4 on GC 16:9 only at a time when like 90% of gamers had a 4:3 TV. He forced everyone to play with black bars.
It wasn't about performance back then, it is not now.

Another review is out:
http://thisgengaming.com/2014/10/12/the-evil-within-review/ - 8/10
So, after reading checking 3 reviews this weekend, there a re a few points that are common among all of them:
- The game is not really scary, though it has a few punctual scary moments. It seems to be very atmospheric though with great level design.
- The game is old-school in the sense that the encounters are generally hard, there's very scarce ammo and skill is needed to kill enemies before running out of it.
- It's often described as a mix between RE4 and The Last of Us (the latter mostly because of the stealth possibilities apparently). |
- Fine with me. I didn't find Alien: Isolation scary, but thanks to rich atmosphere and tense gameplay I enjoyed it from beginning to end.
- Good, I'm amazed we're getting not one, but TWO horror games that actually pose a challenge, in one week.
This year is redeeming itself in my eyes.
- Sounds good to me.
Sounds like a fun game.
"I think Call of Duty resonates because it's believable and relatable," Sledgehammer Games cofounder Michael Condrey says.
Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty
