Anyone have any recommendations?

I was looking to buy this one.
http://www.onkyousa.com/Products/model.php?m=TX-NR636&class=Receiver&source=prodClass

It looks pretty future-proof for now. With HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2.

I was ready to buy it, was on sale for $500 but in some review I found that it only does 4K/60Hz at pass-through. It's fine at 4K/30Hz. Which is not a big deal bit quite a big inconvenience. My current receivers only does pass-through which after few years I am sick of it.

They don't ever mention that small detail at their website at all. :\

I am going to order this very soon http://www.energy-speakers.com/home-theater-systems/?sku=CF-50-5-1
and I really want a good receiver that will last me few years and for my future 4K tV Razz

Laughing Laughing Laughing

I don't watch TV.

Yes, I'm being serious. My current receiver does not have enough inputs and being it pass-through is really silly. Having to switch all the time between devices and dat audio.

I have 40' TV right now and I am going to upgrade it to a 55' by end of the year. Why I would buy a 1080p for $1000 when I can get 4K Samsung/Vizio for $1800 and be fine for next years to come?

Sounds like you should wait at least one more year, and you'd get a similar 4K receiver for 1000$. Just don't upgrade yet.

Well TX-NR636 is a 4K receiver that "just" forgets to mention few important things here and there and therefore makes it really useless.

The more I read about all of this, most of the receivers offer only pass-through.

Oh well, I really wanted those new speakers, but I guess I will wait until end of next year to buy anything.
