hello fellas,
i am going to buy a new laptop. Any advice is welcome. Basically, i just want a slim and mobile device with super resolution so i can code anywhere any time (i just like big screens i guess), can watch some movies on it and can game a little bit on it. It's for work, but i can use it at home as well, so you get the picture.
Requirements:
light and mobile
~ 1900*1200 resolution (preferable ~15.5 inch, no > 17 inch)
slim
8GB RAM
500GB HDD at least
no high-end gaming requirements, so no super duper video card
money is no issue (so no bargain hunting for the $500 laptop, does not mean i can spend 5000...)
I just check Dell XPS15, looks kinda ok, but wondering if there are other vendors in the market offering the same/better.

I pretty much need the same advice, maybe more on brands then on specs.
Want to buy a laptop for work (programming). Specs are not much of a problem, but I don't know which brands I can trust.
So who makes good quality laptops and offers good customer service?

The ASUS N53 Series is pretty nice, good speakers. 1080p screen is an option as is blu-ray and i7. Dell/Alienware also has some nice models but charge more cash (atleast here in Sweden) for basicly the same hardware.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Currently I'm considering between these laptops :
Acer Aspire V3-771G-73618G62Maii
Intel® Core™Ivy Bridge i7-3610QM (6 MB L3 cache, 2.30 GHz, DDR3 1600 MHz, 45 W) - 8GB DDR3 - 500GB 5400rpm + SSD 120GB - ekran 17.3" Acer CineCrystal™ LED-backlit Full HD (1920x1080) - NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 650M 2GB
LENOVO Y580 59-334288
ntel® Core™ i5-3210M (2.5GHz), 4GB, 32G SSD+750GB, Win7 HomeP, BTH, 15.6" FHD (1920x1080), Metal Gray(AL), nVidia Geforce GTX 660M 2G
ASUS N76VZ-V2G-T1040
Core i7 Mobile 3610QM, DDR3 6GB, DVD Super Multi, GeForce GT 650M 2GB, 750GB HDD, 17.3" LED Backlight Full HD (1920x1080) TFT
ASUS N56VM-S4216V
Intel, Core i7-3610QM, 2.3 GHz , 6GB (2+4GB), 15.6, 1920x1080, HDD SATA 750 GB 5400 rpm, NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M 2GB DDR3
ASUS N76VM-T1070V
Intel, Core i7-3610QM, 2.3 GHz , 6GB (2+4GB), 17.3, 1920x1080, HDD SATA 750GB 7200 rpm, NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M 2GB DDR3
ASUS N76VZ-V2G-T1034V
Core i7 Mobile 3610QM, DDR3 8GB, Blu-Ray, GeForce GT 650M 2GB, 17.3" LED Backlight Full HD (1920x1080) TFT
I did search on the internet and a good number of people say that in terms of quality Acer is not so good. Lenovo is very good, but their ThinkPad series, don't know about Ideapad series. ASUS is somewhere in the middle.

Never ever ever buy Acer...
May look good and like a good deal for the money, but they are crap :\
My sis has only problems with them...

That 14" means no numeric keypad right? Getting a mouse is enough. Would hate to have to buy a keyboard as well to keep around and take up space.

Ok...
So I've been looking around for small stuff to keep up the pretense of masterracery when i finally get around to being able to afford that laptop with still enough for the rent and food. I looked at usb lamps for keyboard illumination, cooling pads (with the added benefit of being great ways to angle the keyboard), etc.
Obviously I'll need a second monitor...
So there i have choices. Either through hdmi or usb. He thing is, I'd like to have the second monitor to be the same size as the laptop monitor (15.6"), and most hdmi screens are way too big for that, or just plain not easily portable.
I found a promising usb alternative. ASUS MB168B+. Uses a usb3 port and people say it gives a decent enough bandwidth through that that allows at least fluid movie experience (old usb2 monitors were abysmal, i hear). Since I'd use the main screen for games and other response-time-sensitive stuff, that looks like a decent option (I'd use it for video editing, browsing the net, ot just to have a yt video playing while...playing). The size is just right, it's 1080p, and it's extremely easily portable. I even picked out a stand for it on amazon that might support it.
Now. Any ideas what else i could look into? The size and resolution is not negotiable, and I'd love it to be as portable as that asus thing, but maybe with an hdmi at least as an option next to the usb even if it means using an extra power cable.

I'm looking for a decent but durable laptop for 800-900 € tops.
This

seemed to fit the bill but I want something smaller (14-"15") and preferably with a better CPU.

Basically I got 750 gig 7200rpm hdd since an ssd would skyrocket the price, and only 8 gb ram instead of 16gb. But since these laptops are fairly easy to upgrade, I'll be able to buy another memory stick when I feel I need it. Everything else is as before.
Now I'm broke (final damage: 950£), only enough money for rent and food. No going out, no party, just existing until the next paycheck.
