horizon is a FUN but mainstream derpy game for derpy casual racing, driveclub was advertised as mainstream, but really isn't. this game will be one of those games that has cult following, kinda like NFS Shift, that typical NFS kiddies hated, but more grown up gamers liked.
at least FH2 has detailed tuning and upgrades, so did NFS Shift

i think they went for realism. there is hardly any bloom or similar effects. forza horizon 2 looks saturated and almost cartoony looking compared to driveclub (probably one of big reasons why it's getting low scores and gets called bland).
No, most reviews say the exact opposite. Because of the realistic lighting, it looks great and anything but bland. The "bland" in Gamespot's review refers to everything else: gameplay, atmosphere, sound. They say that while the tracks and cars are beautiful, you're also in a dead world.
I'll see for myself tomorrow when the PS+ version becomes available. I have no hopes for this to be to my liking at this point though, not after even sites that think GT is amazing shot it down.

this game is not forza horizon for PS4, it never was intended to be such a game. the only thing these games have in common is similar release timeframe.
What the hell happened to this game? The earlier footage was so much better Those reviews seem pretty damning though, except for Videogamer and Game Informer. I guess it's a good thing PSN+ subs get the 20% version for free, that way you can judge for yourselves and play something substantial and not just some minuscule demo.
just played some more and had a few moments. getting blinded from suns reflection on the lake/river. dash reflection on windshield etc.
game definitely looks on par from what i remember in these gifs. it's just for these gifs they captured perfect sun angles and lighting. it's not always perfect sun angles you know.

I don't put any value into reviews, but when all of them consistently say it's mediocre at best, something's off. Since the same sites say every doody game is "refreshing"
I'm not putting any value into it anyway, I'll make up my own mind tomorrow when the PS+ version hits.

Yeah but it's still shit. I think gamers should loudly say when something is crappy. First Watchdogs than destiny and now this shit. If people keep kissing Sony's ass nothing will ever change. My bet is they are holding back the PS+ free edition back on purpose after the mixed bag of reviews the game has got, hoping enough gullible people can't wait to try it and just buy it.

yes indeed this game is soulless, it doesn't have any utterly pointless cutscenes in between races with some dudebro wearing backwards cap saying "yo yo yo mah man you did great in this race, win 2 more and we'll get all the babes"
Delayed for a year and still can't get the game to work. Great job! Nice to see the promised PSN+ version is the one taking the cuts though, I'm sure that's going to generate loads of good will for players that have been waiting a year.

Check the FB link above, mate. The PSN+ version has been "delayed" so that full edition purchasers can play because apparently their servers can't handle this many people trying to play at once.
