I think I was wrong to call this a weak game, when I did. I still hold my opinion about everything I said, but having played with the nemesis system, I really like that.
I think in a world, where dying in a game has no consequence, this game got it right. The enemy you failed against gets stronger, and all your progress takes a hit. Your plan is wasted (warchiefs have new bodyguards, your branded orcs die, etc). So you have to put work right back in to it. And even though I absolutely ace batman combat, I died quite a few times because of inattentiveness. And that stings just the right amount.
The STR/Weakneddes system is great also. Especially, when you fight multiple captains and warchiefs at a time, you really have to ace combat to kill them all - and it feels great, when you do.
The open world part of the game feels alive, rather than completely static.
Combat still is only 1/10th as good as Batman games, sadly
all captains and chiefs have weak points, some bitch that game is too easy, others it's too hard ffs
rushing into the battle like an idiot is never smart, this game believe it or not requires at least some basic strategy
Depends... some of them are immune to stealth/range attacks, so you have to rush them. And as soon as you do 20 other minions arrive and try to gang-rape you from all directions.
terrified of burns, wasps, animals, all these factors can lead for them to split, you can catch them alone and finish them off
so far i only encountered one guy who was afraid of nothing and never flees, but still finished him off pretty easy
Just killed those warchiefs, about 9 hours in. Enjoying it but ive died twice so far so I havent had a chance to really try the nemesis system. And with new abilities it seems to just get easier..
Are you just supposed to pass time to level up your enemies to get the good loots?
Finished, did almost every side missions bow ,sword missions ( wasn't worth the time , didn't gave me nothing special )
Fun game, gets boring eventually as with all games of this kind ( i hope in the future games devs can make this kind of open world games more pleasant , and not so repetitive, ok, they can't )
I played for 9 hours untill I stopped playing, I didn't even look at the strengths and weaknesses after the second captain I killed. The game is just too easy to require any strategy imo. Abilities are just too OP. Maybe a gamepad makes everything too easy.

that's cause you haven't encountered them acid double axes or poisonous archers bosses, who can kill you with just a couple of hits/shots if you are not careful

The bosses never get to hit you. Just stun the boss, hack away and counter anyone who tried to hit you. Only ranged enemies can slowly whittle away your health but it's easy to run to a flower and come back to continue the fight.
No one is allowed to make the PS4, the gem of next gen gaming, look bad. Not even the PC masterrace!
Hm, if they wanted to make great games without limiting themselves, why didn't they made PC the greatest platform in the first place? Ah right, PIRACY b/c consoles never had it
I completed it as well yesterday night, and ended up doing several side missions too (actually better than the main "plot" which was..better draw a veil over that).
If it wasn't for the very inconsistent narration and the inner repetitiveness, I would have liked the game much more.
It's still fine for what it is, mindless open world AAAwesome buttonsauce (not too much though, since at least you can actually die - unlike Assassin's Creed ) which never hurts. Killing orcs is satisfying as long you use the many abilities and environmental stuff at your disposal, makes the core mechanics definitely less redundant. The voice acting for the orcs is simply excellent, their threats never failed to amuse me
Overall it's not a particularly remarkable title in my opinion, but works well because it's polished and gives the player enough freedom to have fun. I'd rate it 7+/10 for the effort, perhaps a Mordor 2 will expand upon this formula (the still primitive but interesting nemesis system has potential) and will fix the flaws. And please Monolith, hire a better writer the next time!
How the flying f*ck are you supposed to survive against three captains at once? Every single Captain battle I get into, two more show up that are in the area!!!!!
EDIT: Did some searching. I didn't realize that they look for you. Makes sense as to why I've got 2-3 in the same area, esp. in the strongholds. But damn, it ain't easy.
Also, what the fastest way to get power? Got unspent ability points but I cannot unlock the second row of upgrades until I get more power.
I played through the second half of the game with a touchpad on my laptop via Steam in-home streaming. To be fair my character was OP by that point so it evened out.
Any way to fix the mouse controls? The camera moves horribly
Those of you who've finished the game, have you done it with a controller? The mouse controls are terribad.
I'm playing with the x360 controller and while the layout is perfect, it's still unresponsive as fuck, if that's the same problem you have. I thought it was just my pc that was lagging, but I've read similar complaints from people with more powerful rigs. The most annoying thing for me is that the character seems to easily get "stuck" near objects (rock formations, building walls, etc), you must always keep a little distance from them while skirting them, otherwise the character stops moving. Don't know if it's just me, but it's annoying me to no end.
The PS4 and XBOne both use the high equivalent of PC textures according to Digitalfoundry, which don't require 6gb but rather 3gb.
ok
but
PC IS ON ULTRA ... should it not be more crystal ...
Edit :
great they LIED in that Vid its not PC ultra , its HIGH
Doom 3 was like that.
Ultra required x2 the amount of VRAM that High required and the difference in quality was very small. The difference in performance though was more than obvious.
High Quality: This mode is designed for a graphics card with 256MB of Video RAM. In this mode there is no texture compression (which greatly increases Video RAM usage), however light maps are compressed still. It is important to note that in this mode, Anisotropic Filtering is automatically enabled and set to 8x, which is quite high. This helps noticeably sharpen textures as they fade into the distance, however it has a pronounced impact on performance. Essentially in High Quality mode texture quality is improved over Medium Quality due to removal of compression and through use of Anisotropic Filtering, but at the cost of a significant performance hit on cards with lower Video RAM and processing power.
Ultra Quality: This mode is the highest possible for Doom 3 and is designed for a graphics card with 512MB (!) of Video RAM. No compression is used for anything, hence while graphics quality is at the best it can possibly be (not including Antialiasing, which you can also enable separately), there is a major performance hit for current systems. Due to the lack of compression loadup times are theoretically reduced, however in exchange for this most systems will notice a lot more freezes and pauses as video information is constantly being swapped into and out of your Video RAM. For the most part the difference between High and Ultra Quality modes is difficult to tell.
