Perez caused the accident. He changed his line, Massa was breaking 5m sooner than lap before.
Perez moved (not like there was no reason, brakes at the back were gone), Massa was trying something impossible... Both were in fault... but Massa should really learn to keep it together and it wouldn't have happened.
My point was more about that character flaw of his rather than to blame him completely. He gets himself in spots he shouldn't be in. Which is a shame since he can be quick.
It's always great to see the A1 Ring, awesome track
Massa couldn't do the miracle, but it's almost a mission impossible with those two up front. Even if the engine is the same, they're on another level entirely. Ferrari once again participated as guest star/old "glory" to the Formula Mercedes
Great race today, brilliant drive from Alonso I actually hoped for a win at a time (which I didn't think would happen this season).
But yeah end result is fair. How a race is fun when you actually have no one whose 20 seconds ahead! Let's see more of this next season (aka to the other teams: get your act together )

It was an epic race indeed , one of the best that I've seen in the last couple of years for sure. Everyone did their utmost best to win. We should find a way to implement some random artificial rain in every Grand Prix!
lol Rosberg vs Hamilton... and why on earth they called Kimi for second pit stop so soon, he still had great pace, only riccardo, rosberg and hamilton were faster. I believe if he made 4-5 more laps, he would be on the podium.
Glad Ricciardo won, he deserves it. Every time I get reminded of the Red Bull team saying he posted faster times than Vettel in the simulator work when he drove Torro Rosso. Even tho I don't value Vettel as a great driver (Still good tho) I didn't believe that and here he is in a Red Bull and doing a great job. Great to see.
Was painful to see Ferrari and Mclaren struggle again and Bianchi's good qualifying position going up in smoke in the first turn.
The giant drama-filled bubble was destined to explode sooner or later. And makes things more entertaining for us, so good!
I consider Vettel a very solid driver, but somehow he isn't the best when it comes to racing in non-optimal conditions. If the car is perfect, he's faster than anyone else, but when the whole package isn't 100% competitive, well he struggles and gets all frustrated which penalizes him, imo.
The kid has talent, quite sure of that, but... I don't think he's ready yet.
That's an open playground he's doing the test run on, next year their will be 21 cars around him he has to deal with.
Somehow it makes me feel like we'll end up like a rookie Grosjean or in worst case a Maldonado who still crashes like he did in his test runs and throughout his whole career.
Tho it could be worse than Maldonado, being dropped while never showing how fast you can be. At least our 'unfortunate Shepard' did that once or twice.
Wish they'd bring back more testing or have a third car on Friday practices so these youngsters could actually get some real experience.
Yup... it's that time of the year again: Japan and me thinking why the hell I do get up early for...
Then you hear right away Vettel is leaving Red Bull, AAW YEAH! Silly season has an effect
Edit: then came the realization: Alonso might go to Mclaren and boot out Button... Darn it!
Massa seems happy about it
In all seriousness, Alonso did the right thing in my opinion. I would have done exactly the same. There's no future at Ferrari until the whole team of mechanics/engineers is replaced as well, since the driver alone has secondary importance at this point. Sebastian will need a gigantic bag of patience xD
Haha, indeed. That's what I love about felipe, usually in for a troll xD
You should have seen his face when he told the sky guys that he did that, was still quite amused about it
Hope Bianchi is ok...
Bit of a bad feeling with this.
Seen some terrible accidents in my time, hope it's nothing like that.
Edit: Doesn't look good at all, saw pictures of his car at the crash site. Side scraped pretty bad, the top (air intake) and back completely ripped open. Think he slide under the loader.
Well wasn't that great footage from Sutils crash either so my guess it happened in a somewhat blind spot plus the little they had was immediately censored.
Prolly more footage will surface the coming days.
To get some idea how bad it was:
Spoiler:
Car went under the backside of the loader as seen by the damage on the car.
He's still in a critical condition after surgery (severe head injury)... hope he can come out ok.
Yeah, it was terrible . From the closer pic the helmet looked damaged as well, very unfortunate circumstances...cerebral hematomas are a black box and only time will tell. Let's hope for the best.
Yeah, power they themselves said it's not there yet, but they are on track. We'll just have to see where they are, closer to March.
Too bad there is so little in year testing or we'd have more of an idea to go on.
If the rumor of weight is true than I fear it won't change much... seeing they were going to create a prototype chassis to prepare for installment issues/dimensions.
Anywho... every motor had that rumor last year before testing so we'll have to see when some more data has been trickled out.
