I need the help of you guys choosing the processor for my cheap HTPC.

I´m going to return a Minix X8-H that I paid 144.89€ for.

I was disappointed with the poor performance using limelight and in lost frames when navigating the Android UI.

My main purpose for the system is, XBMC @1080p and use Steam In Home Streaming also @1080p.

Looking at the available processors for my budget and after reading a few hardware forums users opinions I´m not sure which of the following components is best for my purpose:

AMD A6-6400K 3.9GHz SkFM2 BE 56.90€

AMD Athlon 5350 APU 2.05Ghz SkAM1 59.90€

Intel Celeron G1820 2.7Ghz 2MB Sk1150 39.50€

Some passmark scores:

AMD Athlon 5350
2641 CPU Mark (aka Multithread)
819 Single Thread Rating

AMD A6-6400K
2395 CPU Mark (aka Multithread)
1444 Single Thread Rating

Celeron G1820 (Haswell Dual Core Celeron 2.7 Ghz)
2677 CPU Mark
1504 Single Threaded

I need an expert in cheap CPU´s Very Happy

They're all fast enough and saying the G1820 is the fastest is shortsighted. CPU performance on the G1820 is better than the other two, but the other two do better on the GPU side.

None of that really matters though, as we're talking about using it in an HTPC, which you want to be silent. And then there's another factor that comes into play: TDP. The A6 is out of the question, that's a 65W CPU. The G1820 is still 53W. The 5350 is just 25W. That's the one I'd go with. You can cool it passively.

My HTPC is still on an ancient E7400 and yes, 65W is still too much. It still needs too loud of a cooler - and your options on that front in an HTPC case are limited to say the least.
