multiplayer will be cleaved off from the single-player game as a separate, standalone experience

I don't like it. For me the whole point of playing RPG together with friends is to experience a good story with fellow companions.

eh they still do whole tacked on multiplayer thing i see? haven't they learned anything? no one plays tacked on multiplayer in primarily single player games.
sp games should stay sp, and mp games should stay mp. trying to merge the two ends up with massive fail.

mp here sounds like some shitty horde mode anyway. increasingly difficult levels, enemies swarm you, yadda yadda been there done that 1000 times.

I love added multiplayer modes in singleplayer focused games, if the singleplayer part is not lacking because of the extra work.
It most often gives me at least some more hours to enjoy a game

If the multiplayer is anything like the Mass Effect 3 one (which I'm pretty sure it is) then I am going to spend a lot more time playing that than I can ever do on the singleplayer part of the game. If the combat is enjoyable doing a mode that focuses entirely on that is pretty fun. And I am also expecting them to gradually introduce new playable characters to the mutiplayer with brand new abilities not available in the singleplayer, which made for some pretty unique characters in the ME3 MP.

EA has mandated that all their games must have a MP element.

The MP portion of ME3 was awesome. I think I have 200something hours in it. Then I was banned Laughing But yeah, totally amazing stuff. If the Derp Age 3 MP is anything like that it will kick ass. (but still it won't me buy the game though)

I believe it's a online element but yeah usually that's some form of multiplayer mode.

Yeah, "online services" apparently:

You can have a very deep single-player game but it has to have an ongoing content plan for keeping customers engaged beyond what's on the initial disc. I'm not saying deathmatch must come to Mirror's Edge.

I'm not sure anyone in that world knows. Didn't they say that it was always visible in the distance, and yet always out of reach? Would be cool to enter it though!

I believe the codex entries stated the black city is unreachable as it is the center of the fade and it's always visible.

Except it has nothing to do with being RPG.

In MP, Mass Effect 3 is standard horde 3rd person MP shooter.

Sure, it can be fun, but it caters to completely different demographic then SP RPG experience.

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

Well, the target audience has shifted from the first Dragon Age, for sure.

I'm glad Pillars of Eternity comes in early 2015 Smile

Not sure why everyone is suddenly surprised. It was apparent from even the early videos it was basically just a rehash of DA2's combat.

That guy probably played on easy or medium, seeing how he didn't use the tactical view at all.

But to me it looks like a fun game, besides the still ugly HUD
