What's the cheapest place to get this?
Seems like a decent game and that it actually works for a change but I'm not sure I want to pay full price for it.

Then it's Ryse at ~30 GB or so and Evil Within at 45 GB or what it was, although with that game that's primarily because of IDTech5's "MegaTexture" tech.

Well you still need to install it manually so at lot of people missed it and the game allows you to set texture quality to Ultra even without having those files installed.

EDIT: It's just past 19.00 here so the Steam store should have updated now, maybe they've fixed it.

Definitely region free from there? It's only £17.59, that's really quite cheap.

Yeah that's some retarded way of thinking while coding the main menu.
Shouldn't had been too hard for them to grey out ultra until the texture pack is installed... Facepalm

@sausje What even more retarded is that even without HD pack installed turning textures to "ultra" increases VRAM usage up to 5Gb Reaction

Tried it with an i7, 8gb and a gtx 760 4gb and it runs pretty well.

40fps with everything on ultra (including textures). No stuttering or frame rate dips.

Am I missing something?

In theory, unless the vram gap is massive, you shouldn't notice the effects of being under too much.

You might notice more stuttering when the game has to load textures from ram into vram.

Why is the Codex HD texture pack 10GB while it should be 3.7GB?

Any thoughts why this is the case? Is it even possible to get Ultra, thus make use of this pack, with 'just' 3GB?
I have 38GB free on my SSD, so I'd have to delete something for that pack Sad

The Steam download is ~3.7 GB, actual file size of those archives is 9.73 GB.
(The *_0.arch05 files.)

So it depends on how you compress it. Smile

@Mister_s

Prolly they are uncompressed..

The game size without HD pack is ~ 34Gb

After HD pack is installed the size is ~44Gb

I still think that the pack is worthless.
