Enjoying Crown of the Old Iron King. World design isn't as good as Sunken King though, but so far I like the new enemies.

Fighting Smelter Demon 2 atm, motherfucker got smarter, added a few new moves to his repertoire which makes him much less predictable Razz

I didn't get to experience that, he was the EXACT same as 1.0 for me. Killed him first time easily since I'm already familiar with his old moves.

Nah, he's definitely improved. I had already read about this one being harder in several reviews. I was close to beat him first time as well but after that he always does some unexpected move which I dodge too early.

Man, the final bosses in these DLC are so freaking insane, especially considering I'm playing the new content in my NG+ playthrough Very Happy

I'm under the impression that Fume Knight is my new hardest boss in the whole game Surprised

EDIT: Wow, *SPOILER* I just found out that to interact with that knight suit in Brume Tower I need the ashen heart that the ancient dragon gives you in the main game. I haven't reached that area yet in my NG+ but I'm pretty close (Dragon Eerie, only that area is NG+++ for me because of 2 bonfire ascetics I burned there in NG Laughing)

If you are planning to take it slow and discover everything, i guess you have around 20 hours minimum with the 3 DLC (i haven't played yet the third one).

You entered "New Game+" mode and all progress was reset, all key items were also removed and everything respawned including chests and such.

Since you've beaten the game you probably know where the main areas are already so put shortly you have to do the following:

Get to Black Gulch underneath Majula and kill The Rotten, where there previously was a primal bonfire (Lighting this is recommended.) there will now also be a fountain leading to DLC area 1, Sunken King.

Enter the Old Iron Keep after Earthen Peak and kill the Old Iron King to get access to another primal bonfire, as above now there's a shrine / fountain there that leads to Crown of the Old Iron King (DLC 2)

Finally (And this is going to be annoying.) you need to open the Shrine of Winter at the forest (I forgot it's name.) however to open this you have to satisfy one of two conditions.

Either kill all four "big" bosses and light their primal bonfires or accumulate a soul memory value of above one million, in new-game plus mode this should also open the shrine.
(Actually leading to the dragon peak but that's where they put the entryway to DLC 3, Ivory Crown.)

Lastly Vendrick now has some additional stuff if you care about the game lore, for that you need to be able to enter memories meaning you need the Ashen Mist Heart from the ancient dragon (Killing it is optional, it's enough to speak with it but you do want a few giant souls if you plan on fighting Vendrick though you can do so later since he's passive until attacked.)

(For the memory to be enabled you need the crown from these DLC areas, more crowns unlock more of the story and eventually with all three crowns and Vendricks own crown you get the full speech, which well I won't say anything more about it as to avoid spoiling things.)

EDIT: For New Game+ new enemies and red (AI/NPC) phantoms appear, some bosses also gain a few new tricks and every enemy has more health to name a few things.

Also the difference between a new full journey and a bonfire ascetic is that a new journey levels up the entire game (And resets progress / removes key items.) whereas a ascetic will only level up the area for that particular bonfire.

EDIT: Might be some small spoilers in my post but the description of the items you get to unlock the DLC areas also tells you specifically where you need to go.

You better had a backed up save game handy, otherwise you're gonna have to reach the portals again Wink

I started NG+ way before the first part of the DLC came out, so when it got released I only spent a couple of hours reaching Black Gulch and beating The Rotten again. Then I went on progressing to reach the other 2 portals in time.

EDIT: NinjaBeckman'ed Evil or Very Mad

Hah but yeah backing up the save file can be useful. Smile
(I mostly do it as a safety precaution though incase it were to somehow be damaged or otherwise corrupted.)

C:\Users\*Your User Name Here*\AppData\Roaming\DarkSoulsII\*Your Steam ID number here*\

And then it's the file DARKSII0000.sl2, copy it somewhere or whatever. Smile

EDIT: On the new DLC, wonder if I shouldn't have killed her.

Hah yeah, I can't believe that after all the patches, the original delay is still there. From pls!

And the 30fps framerate limit is also still recommended, although my character is now strong enough to slay beasts even with handicaps. This last DLC seems good so far though (as usual), maps are bigger/more open this time around and snowy environments are nice for a change. inb4 ragey moments when I find the first boss. Razz

Oh dam, so in order to play the DLC, the best way is to reach till the end of the game (not complete it) and then access them? If that's true, thank you for the heads up. I was going to complete it and then start the DLCs. But I don't want to go over beating those bosses and unlocking those areas again.

Now a question to Demde; what exactly is Dark.Souls.II.DLC.Pack-FTS?

I know all the previous updates contained the DLC, but what is this one exactly and is it required to access the DLCs?

Man doing all the new dlc bosses for the first time in ng++ was a trial by fire. I lost track of how many fights I lost with them having just a slither of health left.
That damage they put out is crazy, not to mention their resistances. Some of the normal npc's can 2 shot me as well. They are like damn red phantoms Crying or Very sad

The DLCs can be simply insane at times. I've raged so much, and so many times that I've lost count which is..almost a plus in a game like DS. Very Happy I found them generally harder than the vanilla game (especially the bosses) also because of the more frequent cheap deaths which are the worst kinds of deaths. *shakes fist*

It was a great journey though, one of the few cases of DLCs done right, since the whole package granted me ~20-25 hours of play.

@Fable: Is the Frigid Outskirts an optional area? Because I've managed to "unleash" all the three knights required (well, let's say..recommended) for the Ivory boss without going there, and I think I'm done now. Smile Laughing
