There's no discussion since Driveclub looks way better than PCars.
I'm no fanboy of either and i'm a PC gamer and didn't even buy a PS4 yet.
Could give a shit less about racers.
I normally bash consoles and praise PCs...
So yeah keep that denial strong broski. Be sure to repeat to yourself how "pcars looks better.. pcars looks better.. owait it doesn't *slap* yes it does .. those gifs look bad, don't trust your eyes *yes*"
I'd say go get your eyes checked, but the problem clearly isn't there but somewhere else. Footage of both games is out on the internet everywhere and everyone can see for themselves.
What's the problem? You should be able to show me vids from PCars or gifs that look better right? From actual gameplay not trailers with cameras, zoom-ins / heavy dof (to hide how bad the environment looks) and whatnot?
Right... Right??

I guess it's more hard to see because all videos are from dashboard camera position. The last video shows a move from clear to rain to clear. pCars has a much more realistic tire water spread physics, so when you drive behind a vehicle, your windshield becomes covered in water, something not seen anywhere in your gifs.
Where Driveclub and most other racing game are better is the vehicle selection. Here it's very limited, and my guess is DLC will be dripping more and more cars. Will pirate for sure.
Russ, you do realise that anything that shows in-game footage is just that, right? In-game? Half the "trailers" are fan-made, which means they are 100% rendered in-game, without any special tricks (and the majority doesn't have DoF either for example).
Do you even have the game?
I'll see what DC is like when I get the PS+ version. I'm still pretty sure the handling is going to be shit and the most important visual will be absent, which is the sense of speed. Graphics we'll see once it's out, because most of the videos are shit quality. Those GIFs you showed, where are those from? Because there are 2 major problems with them:
- Much sharper than any video I've seen
- Not 30 FPS like the real thing
Your vids prove my point. The lighting is poor (most of the time), weather fx as well. Those "rain drops" on the helmet look horrible, clouds while dynamic don't look realistic at all. The rain drops on the cars also don't move, they just stand there, whereas in DC it's not the case.
The environments, do i even need to go there? It's like someone dropped a few repetitive trees on a flat surface that is supposed to represent the terrain around the race track. It doesn't look real at all, no proper detail on it just a flat surface with a texture.
When i look at a PCars video i can immediately tell it's a game, because it looks fake.
When i look at some DC vids i'm fooled into thinking some of it is real.

Dafuq? I already said that and if you check my replies you'll see what i mean. The "trailers" are made with a lot of zoom-ins to have heavy dof and hide how crap the environments look. Also replay cameras being shaky and not allowing you to focus on how bland the overall image is.
I never said it has some kind of postprocessing like photo mode from GT or whatever they had there.
All i wanna see is proper vids of either cockpit or behind car, no replays, angles, cameras, dof etc. And whenever i do see that, i'm disappointed.
Huh gifs not 30 fps? Some is footage from the Beta that people have been playing, some are older from Gamespot / twitter etc.

To me that Caterham vid is better than what I see in the gifs.
The gifs look a bit blurry and too warm/bright colours. Not saying it looks bad, I just prefer the Caterham one.
Additional Notes: Continuous Internet connection required
This doesn't appear anywhere on the page anymore. It had something to do with the current system for private WMD access works, I believe.
But it was there for a split second, and even if it's not a part of the final release, I'm sure that's enough excuse for people to pirate it and feel justified.
I don't know what happened either. Lots of textures are suddenly blurry. I thought it was because of my 1GB VRAM but I'm not sure anymore. Let's hope they'll still deliver all the high res textures as they were already in the game.
Tbh I really loved the collector aspect of GT5. It was amazing how many unique cars you can get and collect them. There are some really rare stuff, like that Razor Edge (or something like that) Camaro from some Gillette promotion. Really one of a kind vehicles that just a few people in the world own. I was more interested in collecting, buying and selling cars and taking pictures of them rather than playing the actual game It was nice experience but I've lost my save and everything went down the drain. So many hours of playing (because some cars are reward) and negotiating with people in trades, lost just like that, in glimpse of an eye You get really connected to your cars, even if they were 0/0/0 cars (never used, never driven, 0km - mint cars). I don't think I ever felt something like that in other racing games where the cars are just ... cars.
If you want a racing game to do anything but "driving" : Test Drive Unlimited 2 is for you !
Its not what I want lol. I never expected GT5 to have such collecting aspect when I started playing it. It still have what it takes for nice racing game. I mean some community events really require some decent tuning to achieve good/competitive times. The later Licenses require great driving skills, etc. But I just never experienced the collecting aspect in any other racing game so thats why it hooked me up so much. Imo, TDU2 sucked. I didn't liked the first one at all but the 2nd one was terribad to say the least.
