Nice game, good music and atmosphere, but puzzles aren't challenging and it's not scary.
The closest you come to scary is:
Spoiler: |
When you reach the mines, there are two puzzles down there, when you reach the second one you encounter what looks like a zombie holding a lantern who attacks if he sees you, but all he does is shake you and you go back to the sign telling you there's danger ahead.
|
I'd give it a 6.5/10

Am downloading atm, and not interested in reading pages of potential spoilers. How is this game? did it live up to the hype?

Folks are complaining that it's short, 2-3 hours long, but I didn't rush through and it took me around 4.5 hours from the first puzzle you encounter, to the end credits.

This is by far the best looking game I've seen. The starting section in particular, with all the forest vegetation, is quite stunning.
I've solved a couple of the "ghost sequence" puzzles so far (the one in the mine and the one in the house under the dam), but oddly enough not the first one (the one just after the railway bridge).
Do I have to acquire an item later and backtrack or am I missing something? Are the clues/items needed to solve each puzzle always nearby? One thing I absolutely hate in this kind of games is not knowing whether I can't solve the puzzle because I'm missing something or because I don't have an item that I'll acquire later on.

The first one is kinda hit&miss. If you want to know:
Spoiler: | You have to place the bloody rock (it's near the cut down tree base) back in it's place near the tracks where the body was found, and you need the crank to fire up the train.
Now, the train has to be put back near the body (where the grass died).
Now those two things are essential, once you have them you can "Touch" the body and activate the ghost sequence. |
|
I must have missed the Spoiler: | crank | ... will track back and search for it. Thanks.

Man this game looks fantastic but feels way too static and boring (even tho its relaxing)
need to play some more of it. performance is great tho and its hard to believe this is ue3. Almost as vast as Alan Wake and more detailed

@sabin1981 Quote: | Usenet is crap these days, get it from RIN. |
It's not crap. It has changed because of dmca, that's all.
PS The game is stunningly beautiful and the atmosphere is perfect.
4Gb VRAM requirement for latest "AAA" titles? Get the fuck out! This game looks absolutely beautiful and runs real good even on middle range PCs.

@sabin1981
All that has changed is that nowadays AAA titles are uploaded obfuscated and they are not hard to get anyways. And I still get like 99% of stuff from usenet including tv series, games and movies.
But it is mostly scene that gets uploaded, so you won't find IAA releases or 3dm releases there. That's where RIN really shines
