How are you guys getting SweetFX to work on the legit Steam copy? I've tried a couple of setups and none of them work because if you try to launch the game from Steam nothing happens .. no load, no error, nothing. It loads if you run the WL2.exe file directly but then you lose out on Steam integration.

Apparently you have to force the game to run in DX9 mode.
http://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/CommandLineArguments.html
"-force-d3d9"
(Beta did not support DirectX 11 but the full version does, I don't think it adds anything and is primarily for performance reasons.)

Skip the steam then if its not a big issue, just download iso. You already supported the devs anyway. I can live without overlays/chats/achievements and other crap in my rpg games, and this game needs sweet fx like no other, without it its vaseline fest all over the place.

Try adding a steam_appid.txt file where the exe is - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Wasteland 2\Build - and in that file use it's AppID number which is 240760 - http://steamdb.info/app/240760/ - this should work.
Although I am not 100% sure if the Steam overlay (If enabled, I have it disabled for compatibility reasons.) will be entirely functional but I do use a Steam_AppId.txt file for every game on Steam so I can launch the exe directly (With shortcuts or .bat file for command line parameters and such if needed.) and there's no problems with achievements (Well I SAM anyway.) or card drops plus Cloud should work too.

Hrmm, running into a lot of quest bugs in LA. You can really tell that Arizona benefited massively from beta feedback in comparison. There's a fairly major bug in Angel Oracle that I fortunately managed to luck onto a method to trigger the quest to (mostly) finish properly without resorting to the dev's suggested workaround (a fix is coming in the first patch, apparently). Now I'm in Hollywood and jesus, there are bugs galore. Broken dialogue, screwed up quest progression, etc.

Is there whole other map after that first one? I hadnt been to demonta yet but I`ve checked everything in the radiation zones. Does the map change completely or are just new places appear on it out of nowhere?

All new map. You're at the point where the transition will shortly be explained.

So how many locations do you have to go through in AZ to move to LA to continue the story?

Well you can skip at least one location entirely (I almost accidentally did so, because I forgot to go there early on). There are 2 large, 2 medium, and 3 or 4 small locations you have to go to, plus the aforementioned optional medium one.

I'm using the steam copy.
Try this:
- download http://speedy.sh/bJxVE/sfx-sausage-1.3.rar and a sweetfx preset you want to use
- put d3d9.dll,dxgi.dll,injector.ini where the game's exe is
- put all other files/folders into the game's main directory
- set -force-d3d9
I have steam overlay and sweetfx working just fine with this setup on win 7 64.
@KGen Quote: | so I have no idea if that's how it is supposed to work. |
generally you need to unpack sweetfx into a folder where a game's .exe is but in case of W2 we have to do it the other way, I have no idea why
1) Lenovo Legion 7 (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3080 16Gb, 32Gb DDR4, SSD 1TB +2TB
2) SFFPC (streaming via Moonlight+ Sunshine)

@sabin1981
I'm glad it worked;)
PS Didn't KGen post the same method? I've just noticed it above

And the fact that you cant see armor sux, there are just few of them, wtf fargo, wtf. Starting clothes option also suck ass, some good shit is only avaliable on female characters while you can make male char look like dragqueen, meh. That said, gameplay is the best thing since fallout 2 so I can easily turn a blind eye here and there, tho some locations could be designed better (not in terms of visual but in terms of pure design - object/mob placements and so on).
Another question - how can I make Rick my team member? Just took radiation suits from his place and as for now only option avaliable is to either run around with him or return him to prison. Is he avaliable later or what? |
Link to sweetfx preset, thanks |
I think it was this one : http://sfx.thelazy.net/games/game/678/ |
Thanks man!

How do the bugs affect the game? Just a minor thing? Or does it spoil the fun?
I don't mind waiting half a year for them to patch it up.
So what do you guys think?

Can you kill those travelling merchants without any consequences? And which kind of loot do they drop, what they are selling?
