Oh dear..I hope that this one button thing is maybe a setting like the one in Bayonetta or whichever game where you had one button easy mode.

Like the car thing, you can have it go where you want on autopilot or you can do it yourself.

I was kinda hoping...ah fuck it.

If that "one button" thing applied to "select menu items > press ok" then I'd be happy. However, if it's just more of Leo's AWESOMEBUTTONBAYONETTEDRAGONAGE2YEAH! nonsense then.. seriously... dafuq? I don't mind about the car, we've had "auto pilot to location" since FF8 in the Ragnarok, just as long as there's an option to drive it manually then it's not a problem.

FFXIII Is pretty much a 1 button win game - occasionally you have to press another one, but it's pretty rare.

Aren't most FF games 1 button games? Or did you guys mix it up with which button you selected the action? Cool Face

Serious: You can only pull off simplistic controls when your story is great and the game is fun... but it's not as easy as it sounds

I think you might be misinterpreting. They probably just meant that you won't need to press several buttons in succession to get to your desired action. The combat system in FF13 was pretty elaborate (with the stances and all), and I'm confident that they'll use something with at least a similar level of complexity.

Elaborate?!

Sure you COULD select Paradigms and you COULD choose the attack you wanted.. or, you could just select Auto-Attack and derp your way to victory Neutral

You can *literally* play the first 10-15 hours of FFXIII just by pressing "A" on "auto-battle" -- the only time you need to deviate is when you cast Libra on an enemy, which then tells auto-battle exactly which skill/spell to use. Even the bosses don't need you to change paradigms or really "think" about anything. It's only the later part of the game, on the Steppe, fighting secret bosses and C'ieth Stone marks, where you need strategy and can deviate from auto-battle sometimes.

Yes, well, the combat system had depth. It's just that they derped the difficulty of the story allllllllllllllllllllllll the way down to console scrub level Smile

Edit: btw I just remember that I really disliked how the open part only became available so close to the end of the game in FF13. I know that in FF games open exploration usually opens up later on in the game, but what they did with 13 seemed a little extreme.

Screenshots, these like the MGS5 ones are a bit blurry so I assume they're taken directly from PS4 gameplay without any further editing.

EDIT: And Type-0

FFX is still the best in terms of combat systems and stuff to do, it would be the best FF period if it didn't have Whinus as the lead.
