- Shadowplay can now record desktop and windowed game (finally)
- Shadowplay also is supported with GeForce GTX 800M, 700M series GPU

Also 337.50 drivers which come along, should deliver huge performance increase, up to 74% in SLI and up to 64% in single GPU config.

Don't really understand this tbh... AMD has an encoder built in too... just d/l an appropriate codec, use something like Afterburner and 60fps here we come...

The new update is fucking amazing. Very Happy

Also, the voltage problem I had seems to be solved.. looks like it was a driver issue.

At the time this thread was created AMD did not have a readily available solution IIRC.

BTW, the new Maxwell GPUs (970 & 980) will kick ass with ShadowPlay. Their new hardware encoder allows resolutions of up to 4K @ 60fps @ 130Mbps. The Kepler GPUs support only up to 50Mbps.

At over double the bitrate the recording quality achieved with these new GPUs should be significantly better and as I understand it wasn't bad in the first place!

http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/geforce-experience-2-1-2-released

The GPUs also support H.265 encoding for similar quality at smaller filesizes, but I don't think ShadowPlay has been updated to support it yet.

Is there even NVENC VFW codec available? I dont like shadowplay and I only know of OBS that is able to use NVENC for encoding. I use DxTory personally so I'd prefer to use that.

if we are talking about general GPU vs CPU encoding then software x264 encoders are considerably better in terms of quality.

As for ultrafast x264 preset +dxtory I'd say performance hit is quite low on quadcore cpus.I think it's about 3-5 fps on my 3770k.

Oh, and btw, they'd better fix dat fucking memory leak bug otherwise I'm not touching shadowplay with a ten foot pole. Very Happy

The whole purpose of shadowplay was to record relatively small(compared to uncompressed fraps) videos on the fly without a noticeable performance hit and upload/stream somewhere.

Are you really going to upload 4k 60fps 130mbit videos to youtube? Laughing I doubt it.

Not 60fps, but I´ll definitely upload 4k @ 30fps.

Already ordered two 980

Can´t wait to try it.

Btw for some reason youtube really fucks up quality wise shadowplay videos.

I get better results uploading dxtory+x264 videos with relatively same bitrate.

Does anyone have this problem?

its not you its them ... tested it couple of days ago
they added new re-encoding rules without any notice
720p gets 3500 average bitrate in fast pass
1080p gets 4000bitrate hahaha

with no movement detection = pixelated mess of shit

its like when they enabled 4K they just said fuck to other resolutions ...

maybe it has trouble hooking up on your PC ?

I haven't had it work for a single game in Windowed mode, even after a full reinstall.

I think I read somewhere it requires borders to work in windowed so borderless mode is out of question then?

So recently i've re-used Shadowplay for FAR CRY 4 and it worked all great.

Problem?. I've updated the program FROM THE PROGRAM ITSELF and now both "Shadowplay" top right corner button from the GF Experience is GONE and so is it's same subcategory at the left side too!

I tried the "add -shadowplay at the end of the shortcut's path" and it worked...the program, yeah, but the buttons are NOT THERE STILL!

Fun fact is,whenever you configure Shadowplay again and click on the Gadget button (Settings),Shadowplay's Settings APPEAR IN GFE'S WINDOW!!

Is there any way to bring back the Shadowplay buttons back to normal?...YES,i've tried uninstalling the entire Nvidia drivers 100% and install the NEW ONES but the problem PERSISTS

HERE is how it looks like for me

Any solution?

Does this only happen in FC4? Maybe try deleting the game's profile in nv control panel or nv inspector? Uninstall/reinstall the game or at least the game's config files in my docs?

@DV2 the thing is Shadowplay is a stream service to SHIELD portable tablet devices ... it only works when you have net ON ... so you can stream the thing out to other devices ...

guess something in your firewall blocked the GF experience and that's why it has no ShadowPlay tab ... no net , no stream , no shield stream , no shadow play ... and recording solution

my solution ... FUCK IT ... be offline ...

Code:
So what if you want to get ShadowPlay offline? Well I've just found a solution that could work for a lot of people.

So for starters: Fire up GeForce Experience.
Then right after you do that make a shortcut of GeForce Experience wherever you want.
Then: open up properties of the shortcut you just created. Then edit the target by adding '-shadowplay' right after the long stream of launch target outside the quotation marks. It would help to rename the shortcut like I did to distinguish the two shortcuts.

After that is done:
1. Open your drive where you've installed NVIDIA drivers, it should have at least 2 folders, One saying displaydriver and one that says Systemtools.
2. Open the DisplayDriver folder and open the R331 Game ready driver folder. Open up the folder that should be named "ShadowPlay"
3. Now you got the files that somehow make it work. Run both the nvspcaps.exe and nvspcaps64.exe in administrator mode. Like the first shortcut, it would help to make a shortcut somewhere on your desktop like I did to easily navigate to the files.
4. Close the window but DO NOT exit GeForce Experience completely, just the "X" button the top right.
5. Attempt to open your Modified GeForce Experience shortcut
6. ???????
7. Profit! Now you don't have to have the pesky big Experience window open, and ShadowPlay works just fine Offline!

Win 10 is teh FuTuRe ...

No by all seriousness, i liked 7 but 10 is definetly the way to go these days. Its sleek and runs like butter. And all this Spybot shit talk is way out of proportian, just that you can customize those settings on 10 doesnt mean they werent present in 7 either. And if you are still paranoid like a hobbit, there are plenty of tools and solutions to prevent them from gathering anything.

Or just use the Server/Ultimate edition with more options to turn them off.

Lets keep it real.
