i dont know why that spoiler should surprise... he hasn't actied true to character in ages... his yelling out ILL KILL YOU!! stuff during the battle as well... thats not my prime... no way Sad

what i really really disliked about this movie was that it never had that 'wow' moment. i know people tend to universally hate the previous films for the most part, but to me, each of those films had one or two moments where the music picked up into a really nice powerful score, with some great choreography, beautiful camera work... just perfect scene editing - a real crowd-cheering kind of sequence.

i never had that in this film. there was plenty of robot smashing and cgi, but no scenes that delivered any kind of punch to me, even the dinos riding into town - the sequence i most expected to deliver that powerful punch, just fell totally flat for me... so thats why i think bay really failed with this film... its action and carnage, but without the crowd-pleasing rah-rah moments that his previous films have.

imo, imo...

this is his most soulless film to date.

Been watching the cartoons the past month, something tells me I really really should not watch this movie. The other ones were bad enough.

you can watch it, its pretty clear this isnt trying to be g1, its just transformers bayverse... to be upset or offended by this, is to be offended by the dozen other 'interpretations' of the franchise.

that said, i dont think the film was that good, so in THAT regard you may not want to... but just because you're worried about it tarnishing the fantastic cartoons? nah Smile

Yup, it was just unreal. I really disliked that Prime was hiding in his classic cab-over Kenworth K100 form at the start, all broken and ruined, only to adopt a newer form again later. Maybe it's just me, but that seemed like a little barb towards original fans - the ones that have consistently complained about the silly new truck he became.

Oh well, popcorn flick and all, once consumed it's gone and not thought about again.

If you're a fan of the originals, ignore the movie. It ruins the characters and especially the Dinobots. If you're not all that fanatic about the originals then... ignore the movie. It ruins the characters and especially the Dinobots.

"Reset stuff" killed all the tension this movie could have. You basically dont care till about the plot and main characters (they will die hundred times anyway) till the "something" happens and when it happens you already know that they will succeed this time lol. (so obvious its not even a spoiler)

First 15-20 minutes show some good premise, next 15-20 is just filled with laughable moments (in a good way) and rest is boring + typical "america" ending. Overall weak movie, I honestly dont know why all those 8/9/10 scores are coming from. In comparison to Edge of Tomorrow the few years old Pandorum looks like 11/10 scfi movie, in terms of plot quality, tension, atmosphere, some mystery, brilliant ending and so on. (obviously its not 11/10 lol, I would give it 7.5-8/10 whie Edge gets 4.5/10)

I agree with you but it's always difficult to find a good medium with scores. Edge Of Tomorrow is quite enjoyable for this type of movie. A very strict but fair score would be a 5.5 or 6. Oblivion was a better sci-fi movie imo maybe because it was more indie for me. Europa Report is also one of the best sci-fi films of the last 4-5 years.

Well 6/10 is not a bad score, 2-3/10, maybe even 4/10 would be worse, lets use full scale shall we? Very Happy anyway i found EoT boring, so its eot Laughing. Pandorum, and Europa Report are definitely better scfi movies, EoT is like transformers form of entertainment without derpy stuff. Still need to check The Signal, did you watch it?

The Edge of Tomorrow's Souls: Prepare to Die Edition - 9/10

What a pleasant movie. I knew it would be solid enough to grant me a couple of hours of pure entertainment, but it still was a surprise to see such a competent work coming from today's shallow hollyderp industry.

It could have been easy to go overboard with the script, but it was actually very consistent, sticking to its internal rules without major inconsistencies, which is nice. Add to that the well-made special effects, characters with quite some depth, played by competent actors (good old Tom was bloody great as always) and solid direction (not surprising, either, Doug is the men). *seal of approval*

Transformers: Age of Extinction egh/10

I'm not sure how to rate it really, on one hand it was a large improvement over the previous three.. and on the other it was just more pointless rubbish that trashes the source material, has weak characters and carries the film based on explosions and carnage alone. There were more than a few times where I caught myself thinking "this destruction is just way over the top" and making us wait over 2 hours before we even see the vaunted Dinobots (none of whom talk, ffs, they're just mindless beasts that need to be "broken" so they can be used as steeds) is just silly.

 Spoiler:

But but but rescue rangers!!! 10/10

Also a movie heavy on cgi the boat scene lacked knowledge of how to green screen

Transformers Extinction - 7/10 - Surprised by bad reviews, I happened to like it. Great Visuals! Voice overs were very well done, especially by John Goodman. Story was decent, bots looked great. Blonde chick was smoking hot. It was too long by about an hour. Might only be for die hard transformer fans.

Million Dollar Arm 8/10 - Very moving... showing lives of two guys from India learning american baseball. I love baseball and really appreciated seeing the process unfold. Recommend if you are a baseball fan.

Why are you still surprised? Different target audience and such.

I know I'll rate it low when I'll watch it, because I'm stupid to still wanting to watch it eventho I know very well it's not what I want out of a Transformers movie.

It is definitely not for Transformer fans tho, none of the movies have been for me and seeing the trailers... this won't be one for the fans either in my opinion (except for Peter Cullen's voice ).

Such a shame too.. a Transformers movie made for Transformers fans would be fucking epic. I'm under no illusions about the 1987 movie; that was made purely to kill off the existing and less commercially viable characters and to introduce new characters for new toys. The entire SHOW was created to sell the toys, that was its basis, but the side effect was that it turned out to be great regardless Very Happy

Easy? Something can have a better story, or better cinematography, better actors or pacing - but you can still enjoy something else more. Like Alien(s) really; Alien is arguably the better movie, but I still enjoy Aliens more.

It's in the backlog with Coherence. Tonight I'll watch Begin Again and tomorrow Palo Alto, so I guess I'll watch The Signal the upcoming weekend.

Really nice concept. Actors were so so, the direction could've been a bit better and photography aswell. Also they could've fleshed out the events even more and cater for an even nerdier audience... F.e. Primer like Smile

Begin Again

Very good. Keira can sing and most songs are good too. Ruffalo gives a fine perfomance, the ending is exceptional and Carney films again another superb music movie. Highly recommended for music lovers.

8.5/10

Next will be Maps To The Stars as I am a big fan of Croneberg.

I don't know why either. Why should there be 1 and 10 on a scale if it shouldn't be used? Is it reserved for something or what?

No, but to become a 1/10 it has (imo) to be THE worst movie ever. And seriously many movies that have recieved a 1 or a 10 really could have been worse/better.

shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.
