I loved both in their own style, both Burton and Nolan are fantastic directors, but it was TDK that left the biggest mark on me.

Nolan's trilogy was meh, with the exception of this one. And that was, IMO, all to the fantastic performance by Heath Ledger.

I liked all Nolan Batmans, despite some problems with them, but TDK is something different. It's very rare that you see a super-hero flick that can actually be called (and defend itself as a) great movie - not a great super-hero movie, mind you. Just a great movie. It's just incredibly good and Ledger's performance made it reach epic heights. I wend out of the cinema completely awed and it was still just as good when I saw it again a while later. It's one of those movies I'll always have on my HDD ready for a rewatch - just like Star Wars, Terminator or even Blade Runner.

which is the better MOVIE. nothing about which is the better sequel, as you claimed, so why should their position in their respective franchises matter? Why shouldn't people be able to suggest other movies that could have been in the poll?

why would he make a poll about those two movies only then? Its fairly simple reading comprehension but alas you may be right
and the topic title even includes "VS" lol

Whilst I thought Nolan's trilogy was better than "meh", I have to agree with the comment about Ledger's performance. Absolutely epic... It's easy to say the last performance of any actor is good, or great, and pay lip-service to them as an actor. But Ledger's performance makes the film.

I enjoyed batman returns as well, even though many people didn't. I was a kid back then, and those movies were fun to me.
Now as an adult seeing a more serious Batman with Nolan was awesome too.
