The default graphics are so blurry its eye straining. I am not even exaggerating, I actually got tired during the sparrow hunting quest.

Disabling blur helps, but its still blurry. but when you disable depth of field as well, the color palette is just too weird. Too garish.

I had to delete it. I just couldn't get on with it. I tried, but the low points mentioned outweighed the nostalgia.

These piss-poor attempts at PC ports lately just have me fatigued.

Goddamn it Sad Oh well, thanks JB! Hopefully the "we swapped mouse control for modding" stuff bears fruit and we can adjust things like this. It's not a dealbreaker but it is jarring seeing light sources just appear like that.

The only one that seems to work is running OBS (Open Broadcast Software) and recording while you're playing. The game is most definitely not without its issues though, your hero gets scar raped now just by someone blinking at you Sad

I totaly gave up on the port, its broken, and the visuals are definatly not worth it for me at all, it looks like a complete vaseline mess to me.

Installed the original Fable the lost chapters with a sweetfx preset wich i am still tweaking, and it looks tons better, crisp, vibrant, and overall, very nice imo:

@hellishere

I'm going to have to disagree there, I think Anniversary is a marked improvement in every way. There's no way TLC looks better .. objectively, of course. Subjective tastes are different Wink

Ignore the aliasing, I haven't bothered with MSAA or downsampling yet, not while I'm having to "record" a video in order to negate the freezing Facepalm Once patched this will absolutely be the best version, TLC really doesn't look even remotely as good.

Yes i stated that to me it looks better, from a tecnical side of things, yes the texturing and models are indeed better, no argument there, but the game loses a lot of its charm, the fabled charmed lighting,its also a lot darker ofc, but this is all a matter of taste as you said.

Also you surely must of tweaked it a little bit, cause my game on default settings looks like a blurry vaseline mess, and i must note that it wasnt in every place, it was more in the beggining of the game, that part where we both took screenshots the game looks pretty similar indeed with your settings/tweaks, still i do prefer the old one, and not because the port is poor, its just a total different art direction from the original one, instead of an enhancement, they kinda went and replace the whole feel of the visuals..

It has been said, multiple times now, how to get rid of the vaseline; turn off radial blur in the Wellingtonsystemsettings.ini Smile I still disagree that they replaced the feel or the charm, it's the same - it's just not as "bloomy" or saturated in the colours. In the end it is subjective though Smile I absolutely prefer the new one, not as overbright or saturated - though it can be with the "stickied" SweetFX settings posted on Steam.

~edit~

Some SweetFX saturation Wink

Yeah unfortunately about that, if you didn't read their announcement regarding modding it's basically just for changing assets, IE making models and textures and no actual gameplay modifications, especially nothing that's going to require changing the code data such as implementing a new control scheme or removing the hardcoded default keybindings for the main menu.

This could change but I don't think they'll make too much of a effort on supporting modding, they haven't even fixed the modkit so you can get the DLC but nothing is downloaded. ( http://store.steampowered.com/app/319120/ )
(Plus they haven't added Workshop support for the game which is how mods will be distributed.)

No no, I don't mind the controls.. I just want a way to increase the draw distance for light sources, that's all Smile If the modding can fix that, I'll be happy.

I have found the source of the stuttering for the 360 stuttering/frame skipping, if anyone needs a fix just go to the ini and set OneFrameThreadLag=False (it was true) i have absolutely no stutterings with this set on false.

I discovered this trying to achieve sabin's "look" to see if i should give this version a try, but i cannot get my game to look like your sabin, i do agree, those last 3 pics you posted look MUCH improved on the vanilla anniversary, can you post your ini's or something? or mention what settings to tweak exactly..

Sure thing bud, here you go; INI collection and SweetFX

You already know where to put them - inis in WellingtonGame and SweetFX in Bin32 Smile Thanks for the oneframe tip, I'll give it a try on my own.

@rubim

The look of them, yeah, but not the contents or properties Sad At least, not yet. Sadly as much as they play this off as being "too difficult" we all know it's really just to protect their profit via DLC. If people can create their own items at will, or have access to base game items, why would they pay for DLC "weapons"? Sad

I don't know, I know there's a rudimentary remapping feature but you have to be in-game first. Start/Load a game, go to options, set input to k/m and then a new page option will appear below "Advanced" that lets you remap keyboard controls. No mouse though, no function keys either.

~edit~

Oops, almost forgot. Remember to edit the WellingtonSystemsettings.ini and set RadialBlur and DepthofField to FALSE.

Just watched TB's video on it, yep ... shitty port, too bad. I really would like to replay this game one last time, it's fucking great. I've finished it two time but it was a looong time ago.

But I'd like some extra stuff and better gfx FFS!!!

Maybe they'll release a couple of updates to fix the technical aspects and improve mouse control. And by improving I mean fucking adding some fucking mouse fucking control in the fucking menu. Laughing

Going by the ENORMOUS backlash so far? I'd say they'd be monumentally short-sighted to not fix the k/m ASAP. It's definitely in their best interest to do so.. and when they do this will be a phenomenal game.

Thanks,

I dont see much benefit in disabling radial blur, almost no difference, disabling dof will indeed remove the vaseline effect but it strips down the game so much, it barely has any AA also, how are you getting this kinda of AA, it looks great, nvidia inspector? settings?

Thanks man

Naw man, just FXAA forced in nVCPL and whatever comes with the preconfigured SweetFX. I haven't used downsampling or MSAA and I prefer the game *infinitely* without the depth of field vaseline bullshit. Oh and don't forget, those images are shrunken a bit with bbcode restrictions -- right click and open in new tab to see the full 1080p ones, maybe the AA won't see so good then? Very Happy

Is it stuttering as in cpu related (textures loading/freezing etc) or frame skipping when doing a 360 and it just stutters/microstutters) ?

For me it's "entire game freezes solid, sound loops and stutters like a BSOD is about to happen" and then it clears up. It has been fine for the last 8 hours or so, as long as OBS is running, but now it freezes *constantly* if I equip the Bright/Dark Will User's Robes - another reported issue on the forum.
