|
 |
Hey humpers.
I recently bought a new telly, a Panasonic TX47AS750E. Awesome telly with superb picture (perhaps thanks to it's IPS-panel and back-lighting control etc.) .
The problem is that every Media Server for PC I've tried (Plex, Twony, Serviio and another one I can't remember the name of) has had various issues.
Currently running latest Plex.
Setup:
Both PC and Telly are wired to my 1Gbit router (ie. not running wireless to avoid any glitches and buffering issues).
I currently have the latest version of Plex Media Server installed, Version 2.2.5 .
The issue I have: some .mkv's I try to play over the network aren't playable, the telly says "File not readable". Meanwhile if I move the HD to the USB-HD-dock and use the Media Player in the telly the movie plays just fine.
Any suggestions?

Installed XBMC Kodi.
Seems to work well.
Question: does it direct-stream or does it transcode everything?

I suggest Plex Server. You can configure it to have a direct stream rather than transcode, if your network can handle it.

Also, you didnt sufficiently describe your setup.
Does your Tellie have a Media Browser feature (as a client, like the PS3) to connect to Media Servers over the network?
OR
Did you connect your Media "Server" (PC Media Box) to the PC with HDMI and then it still didnt play that one file?
I assume that case No1 is what happened, in which case it won't help you to install a different Media Server Software and it would be too much trouble, just fix the audio of this one file instead.
Most Media Clients don't support DTS audio. |
XBMC solved all issues and I can play all files (1080p) whether they use DTS, AC3 etc.
As for Plex Server, it's got so many bugs (at least for me) that I can't use it. It works one moment, then every movie is "unable to load file", shows an old library list (even though I updated the library, optimized the library etc).

Btw, is there some streaming application that allow me to stream my PC to the Smart-TV in realtime? The mediaservers I've tried doesn't do anything like that.
