My point being is that you wouldn't slap an adult just because they're misbehaving so why should you slap a child.
If you're unable to punish your child without resorting to violence then maybe you need a slap yourself once in a while to see how it feels.
Would you slap your spouse just because they had a temper-tantrum?
Sometimes a slap is warranted. That's my opinion and I'm not engaging any further - but the comparison between "own child" and "coworker" is ridiculous and stupid. Stop it.

So you'd slap your girlfriend and child because it's warranted?
Good to know.
Here's the thing.
An adult knows between right and wrong (or at least they should) and yet when they do wrong (let's call it misbehave) you don't slap them (mostly because they'd slap you right back).
But a small child that still hasn't grasped the concept of what is right and what isn't you'd slap without hesitation because the situation 'warrants' it.
Double-standards at it's finest.
Prefetian I already said my piece, I'm not going further into discussion since I well know with whom I'm dealing.
For me you are too far on the PC scale in most views (judging by your history here). I won't convince you you won't convince me. I never believe in extremes, a society where no slap is tolerated is an extreme and spoiler alert: it will never work out.
I myself have been slapped once in my life, and I can be mature enough to say: I deserved it 100%. Yet if you let some Swedes comment that is already considered abused.
And so far the scenarios you put up makes it sound like you believe that I would slap a child for a tantrum or some other minor stuff. Silly Pref.
Again to emphasize: I do not believe in extremes on whichever side of the scale they are. They don't work.
Then give me a scenario where a slap is warranted if it's not over a tantrum (because you didn't answer me before).
Because I can't see one, I really can't see where someone who is bigger and stronger than a 120cm person (child) has the right to slap them or physically hurt them.
And what did you do to deserve that slap and how old were you? Did you kick a small animal or something?

indeed, there is no valid argument for hitting a child (or well violence in general)...contrary its actually rather disgusting people in here are trying to justify it
@MORPHINEUS
What exactly justifies slapping a child?
I can't see any reason why slapping a child can be justified or that it should be done, maybe grab them by the arm and raise your voice to show them you mean business.
"My co-worker took my stabler out of spite so I went up to the bitch and gave him a slap for good measure."
That action would not only get you fired but also probably warrant a police report.

The only time I remember my father slapping me is when I was 6 and I was choking my 3 year old brother out on the playground. I think that was thoroughly justified.
