It's not easy to find something that isn't included in the various internet guides, they're generally quite thorough Razz. There are some interesting parks too like Collserola and Ciutadella if you're looking for something different, or places like Manna Gelats for the epic ice creams, and Una Mas Bar if you're looking for a cool place to hang out. Avoid the restaurants near La Rambla, because they're quite expensive Smile

Or if you need "that" other stuff.. http://www.wikisexguide.com/wiki/Barcelona Cool Face Very Happy

Personaly been to Valencia, really friendly people (besides whores standing on every intersection, but I guess that's Spain in general to you)!

I'd recommend taking the subway(train?) to Pucol. Really cheap weed sold by pretty much everyone on the street and cocaine after 10pm

I'm sure this is on the web, but we stayed in La Barceloneta when we were there and it was really awesome Smile

for example from a friend, i found this : http://www.barcelona-life.com/drink/pubs_cafes_details/8-El_Xampanyet to try cava.
intend to visit all parks i can find, i really like them.
i'm a bit sad that i could not found some "savage" beaches like in greece. but i presume this is the price i pay for going to huge cityes Smile.

and other stuff ... no. i'm with my girl, happily together from 8 years. same for the weed, we are trying to have a baby. 1 year ago ...

la barceloneta is on my list.

La Barceloneta is nice indeed. Definitely too crowded in July/August, but September already should be better. The coast does have some calm places without too much civilization around, but sadly they're not comparable to the beautiful beaches that you can find in Formentera or Greece like you mentioned. The ones near the city are all like these: http://gospain.about.com/od/spainbeaches/tp/barcelona-beaches.htm

I think the journey will mostly be about visiting the city+surroundings Razz and it can be romantic too, there are dozens of nice spots. Haven't been to la Cava, but generally I'd say you won't have problems finding cool pubs, the city is full of those^^
