Anyone knows how to do? I have the newest Catalyst Drivers and DirectX, all other games work perfectly including F.E.A.R. and Quake IV. Wierd...

Use the Omegadrivers, then it will work for almost 100% sure Smile

I use Omegadrivers updated and everything, yet I'm still getting the problem listed above. Ideas anybody??

There is some scenarios, one about Earth blahblah BC, and one Earth IceAge, and another one too. Civs should start in proper places there, i think.
So noone got any tips for my overcrowding cities? =(

btw: a tip for all of you with preformance problems, ive noticed that when using anti-blaxx (yes i managed to reach the extremely sensetive state of no-antiblaxx-fuck-up-yet) the game runs as it should.
BUT when using Virtual CDhide or whatever with the win 2000 compatability mode..... 10-20 fps drop.
It was like that in F.E.A.R. for me too, actually every game that has "required" antiblaxx.
Compatability mode = compatability, not preformance.

Hmm, I was going to ask if AntiBlaxx impacts performance...This thing runs like a dog on my machine -- i'm using antiblaxx. Is there a better way to run it?

Health seems a bit dependent on difficulty level. I tried two games, one as a monarch and one as a noble. In the 1st game my cities became overcrowded and unhealthy if I didn't build improvements all the bloody time, so I had little time to build up an army. And in the 2nd game, as a noble, I hardly noticed the overcrowded and health problem. But noble was way to easy though. I came to about 1600 before I left the game and by then I had gotten all but three wonders, and I'm a noobie at it.

Baleur,
Bro the over crowding thing is normal, that just means its time to take some guys off food production in your city and use them as a specialist. Look closly at what those specialists do for you. Most of them add more great people points to you can get a great person more frequently, along with increase commerce and such. Ever hear of a culture bomb =) ?

I think you build hamlets, which turn into towns later on (not controllable cities), as the best solution to overcrowding. Unfortunatly this takes up valuable spaces around the city that are better used for farmland.

I find my capitol ends up relying on its farmland far too much, when an enemy comes, the city starves so fast that by the time I get it under control again I've dropped from 20 down to 13. If you plan on having a HUGE city you have to get a good plot of land to expand on, and be ready for backup building of farms or food supplies when the enemy destroys them.

For those who still can't get it to work - mount the MDS file - not the MDF! And it works using above instructions.

Addictive =) But managing every little square is too boring for me, yes i know you can just set the workers on auto, but then they destroy farms and builds workshops and stuff starving the cities.

Wow - another anti-blacklisting-tool needed ..if it continues this way, every released game has to bring its own anti-xxx-tool to make the image working Cool well, as long as its working, its OK.
For me its working perfect. the new 3D engine is nice and all languages are present - an all-time-classic in a new high-tech costume. that may serve many ours of addictive entertainment Very Happy

after some hours of playing 4-5, i have to say that this game SUCKS.
it can be a good game for someone who hasn't played a civ game or alpha centauri before. but for those who did the game don't present ANY considerable advance in what a truly civ is. first of all: a worldbuilder? WTF??? is the worse builder i have EVER seen for a game.
scenarios: earth. earth??? with only 8 civs, and no possibilitys of adding more, cose of the inteligent worldbuilder.
politics: nothing new.
war: liked better the civ2 and 3.
religion: only early in the game... where is osama?? and talibans? and some mayor sociological treatment?
there's no terrorism in the world.
engine: for an earli alpha version its ok. (athlon 64, 1gb hyperx gf6600gt and sucks)

this game, as it is now, its a truly waste of time.
sid mayer sholud have played brian reynolds "alpha centauri" and learned something.
not worth the buy.
not worth the download.
this game has to be NUKED: reason: an offense to the player's iintelect

the game has potential, like every other civ.
for a one year development, i would rather this game 3/10.

errrrrrr lol. It was a nice bait attempt. It'll be more effective on official civ forums so people can scream at you for being an idiot. But whatever. I found this an interesting statement though. Firstly, it's Sid Meier. Second, I believe it's also called Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri...so I'm pretty sure he has played it.

Anyway, take this to an official civ board. I'd be interested to see if you get any response Smile

yupz- u got ur point thou...
anyway, it was for releasing my pain for having so high expectatives on the game...
and about alpha centauri, its a sid "meier's" franchise, right, but that doesn't mean he has played it... perhaps he was very busy counting all the money he has earned from previous civs 1 & 2.-
com' on... he could create a much more fun game.-

and about the original post, gonna paste it in an oficcial forum, the *nuked part tho, not.. xD

maybe... but i know a lot about history, sociology and other humanist matters.
also know about civ's. the current ai programming can do more...

the game is still great, but doesn't deserve all the superb comments. speceally if the player wants to inmerge themselve in an historic world, where AT LEAST are more than 8 civs playable. maybe it can be moddeable... but as it is now, for me and many more, the game lacks on playabe bugs.

yea, but it's kinda stupid when the Chinese starts beside America who are hindu and Germans who are Jews...

i just want to start at the right place (historicly) and change the history from there, not start at a completely different area, it takes away the "changing history" feel.
