That's not the point though, the point is that with the console versions aren't saddled with online DRM. That's the only point that matters now - they have local co-op, dodge and no online lock.
@mtj
Why ? If you're enjoying it; great! I certainly had a blast when I played through Story. I'm not commenting on the game quality (which is even BETTER now they've removed that bullshit auction house, improving itemisation in the process) but rather the shady and uncalled for practices of the developer. Every time something new about the console versions comes out, it reignites the irritating I feel about the whole sorry saga. Nothing prevents you from playing the console version, nothing, but so many things DO prevent people from getting the same experience on the PC one.
I bought the game at a midnight sale, what did you do? Piss off back to the shadows where you belong and let those of us that aren't happy about being screwed over converse in peace.
I bought both collector editions. That's what i did.
The game wasn't great when released but right now Blizz is heading the right way.
Offcourse you didn't knew that because you didn't even play ROS yet. Too busy crying.
@mtj:
I played the demo and I would have bought it instantly if it wasn't plagued by this drm.
But if I want to loot things, I have Borderlands and Dead Islands.
@sabin:
That was targeted at a "troll" comment that I forgot to quote
Probably because companies are still blind and don't see the console piracy as a big issue, since you need to "tweak" your device in the first place, thus messing with your warranty and whatnot.
@shroom If exactly the same game released on consoles has a proper offline single player mode unlike PC version then I believe we have a legitimate reason to complain.
It's a huge FUCK OFF right into our faces. To millions of PC gamers who made Blizzard into a multi-million dollar corporation.
I support an offline mode but judging from blizz blue posts i don't think it will happen in the near future.
For now i'm fine with always online. I mainly play the game multiplayer anyway and i want all my chars and stuff to be on their servers so i don't lose them in a crash for example.
I never played it on console nor will i. I might be too much of a purist for that (Diablo belongs on pc imho)
But from what i heard the controls are very good on console and they made a nice port.
So if you want a nice 4 person coop offline couch game get the console version.
Pc version will probabaly always be online only. it's on the box so for me there is no reason to complain about that.
The thing that bothers me more is the artstyle blizz used for D3. And the crappy story of vanilla.

That's clearly a dick move I agree.
But again, this was just a basic answer to someone who complained about not being able to play an "online only" game whenever and wherever he wanted to.
Should have shut my mouth

proper my ass.
when you can join a mp game with you edited 1000000000000 dps weapon in offline mode, that is not proper.
That's for multiplayer, which could just remain server-side Battle.net, no reason they couldn't make a offline solo mode.
(Or hell just as Diablo 2 with open and closed Battle.Net, let the players decide for themselves.)

i presume if they really want they can make a proper offline mode for pc (hack/edited proof). but i doubt that they want that. to much effort for something that dont get them anything back in the long run, and they don't want to risk some reverse engineering.
on the console i presume that is impossible to proper separate offline/online mode because of console accounts limitation. don't care to much anyway. i just want to see and enjoy forum discussion about leaderboards stats if they decide to put that on consoles aswell. that will be entertaining material.
I don't really know how the console version worked, I assumed you logged in via Battle.Net there as well but could play solo or local co-op offline.
EDIT: Anyway now with the marketplace gone and the game being older there's really no reason for them not to add some offline mode really, but that might be a issue with time and budget or whatever reasoning they have.
(A second expansion is probably planned for release as well to further keep the game alive.)
Let's not kid ourselves. They ain't gonna make an offline mode 'cause of piracy and that sums it up. Tbh, if it means that the PC version continues more or less impervious to the hacking going on on the consoles versions i'm glad i need to login to battle.net, 'cause the day i can create 100000000x weapons out of thin air is the day i stop playing this game.
Btw JBeckman, battle.net doesn't exist on consoles. They login to PSN and xbox live, that's why they hack the shit out of it.
I got all of it. The new patch is nice. I don't care for seasons, but greater rifts are fun. You're almost guaranteed legendaries by the end of it, so that takes away the pain of RNG. Also I think they've really up the drop rate in rifts, I've been getting legendaries inside rifts very frequently. At least 1 each run, mostly 2.
But more importantly I like the class changes, the skills are getting more and more interesting. I can already tell there's a few more viable builds, if you get the right gear of course.
Would play again if they atleast added gamepad support like the console version, i dont get why a indie studio like neocore can do it but they whine about how they would totally need to change the game, that's bullshit.
I just can't play this type of game anymore with m/kb for a longer time and im not buying a ps4 and start new.

Console scrub
Spoiler:
Got 3 legendary gems yesterday (played just a bit over an hour). So far quite crap + I don't have any jewelry with sockets, because previously sockes in jewelry were almost useless.

The game was made with consoles in mind anyway so they could atleast give us the same options.
PC and consoles seems to be treated differently,Diablo 3 on PC is more "hardcore" half MMO style focused online. Diablo 3 consoles is more "Casual",local play for random fun. if you ask me,lack of level and items importance as it can be easily hacked/cheated to achieve pretty much everything,the advantage of it,you can easily "move" to consoles even without transferring your saves,but I guess lots of people don't want to re-buy the game...
