Completely free for us to play is one thing. They are not stupid though, they are doing it to promote their platform, the epic store. They're getting modders together, investing them in the UE4 system, making sure they will have the know-how and through their experience with UT4 the will to create content for the epic store. Imagine it like Valve's workshop. UT4 will be the core game. Some maps created by the community later down the line might cost 5 bucks. Another mod with some original weapons will cost another 5 bucks. You will be able to play with others, who have the same mod. If it will have a large enough player base, then the community, at least partially, will be able to make an existence out of it. To me, it sounds like a good plan.

I don't think the song was related in any way, she was just talking. Song is a palceholder.

Also, I'm not seeing anything special in that. In-engine scripted stuff/cinematics looks good on CryEngine too.

And tis one is "staged".

We both know we won't see something like that in-games for a while under acceptable FPS. probably 1-2 years still.

Yeah, i wasnt posting that as a counter argument, just thought this demo looked nice, but it does give you an idea of what the engine can do regardless if it possible on today's hardware. Also that demo was running on a single gtx670 btw.

https://www.unrealengine.com/blog/marketplace-now-open-for-business The Unreal Engine marketplace is up now. https://forums.unrealengine.com/showthread.php?33322-Engine-News-8-28 Version 4.5 or what it'll be called is also being updated via their SVN. (Latest release version is 4.4.1 so they've come quite a way since it was first announced.)
