Good thing you guys understand how this shit works then
Backlight strobing (ULMB) is flashing at twice the display's refresh rate. If that's 60 Hz, then the backlight strobes at 120 Hz. If that's 144 Hz, the backlight strobes at 288 Hz.
With VRR (variable refresh rate, which is what AS/GS/FS are) there effectively is no predictability to when refreshes happen, so when exactly do you guys propose the strobing happens? It can't be on any fixed interval, because that could lead to a backlight flash happening right _before_ VBLANK. It can't happen at X ms after any VBLANK either, because again, in theory there could actually be a VBLANK at that moment in time.
It's actually quite a complex issue, the two just aren't easy to combine. There's nothing insulting about it, unless you have a genius idea to solve the timing issues, which means you should join one of these companies and make lots of money

No, it's more like choosing which hole to stick your dick into. If you know of a magical way to stick it into multiple holes, I'm sure there are lots of men who'd be interested to hear about it.

What about that Eizo 240Hz 24" monitor then in comparison? It's VA instead of TN though it lacks the size and also pixel resolution that this "ROG" gaming monitor offers.
(And it probably works best at 120Hz since it likely uses some method to double that and get 240 but I don't know the technical details on how it works.)
Unsure how important features like G-Sync and that blur reducing technique are as well.
(Although for GSync I believe it had some restrictions and the same goes for that anti-blur feature.)
Come to think of it what is holding back IPS 120Hz anyway? Is it just costs or are the various manufacturers waiting on some other breakthrough like the upcoming OLED?
AMD FreeSync should also be available next year so it'll be interesting to see how that compares and which manufacturers adapt that.
(If Intel adapted it for the IGPU series then that could be quite beneficial to AMD but we'll see what happens, if it's indeed so open.)
Not really planning on switching my own monitor for a few more years myself but it's interesting to see how this development progresses.
(Somewhat interested in the Dell 3014 but the price makes it out of reach currently, better to wait and see what happens these next two - three years I reckon.)

IPS has some challenges that make high refresh rates expensive to maintain.
OLED's lifespan isn't fit for this scale yet.
As for the FG2421 vs this: it does have higher display lag (doh) than this, but it's still under 1 frame. And for this thing's ludicrous price I would've expected them to at least beat Dell, but their U2414 and U3014 still have less display lag (lag, not response time). Same goes for Benq's gaming monitors.
It's still a ludicrous sum for a stupid TN panel, with two gaming features (G-Sync + strobing) that most people will find out are mutually exclusives only after they've bought it because they don't look beyond the marketing.

Now next order atleast 2 x GTX 780Ti to get over 60fps @ 1440p (preferrably 3-way SLI to break 100fps barrier so you can actually enjoy from the "smoothness" of over 60hz)
