To get the option to go to Antigua, you have to exhaust dialogue options with Bones.

Hope someone can help me:
I did all quests, the only ones that are missing right now:
Spiritual Ritual > Huge Preparations > The Right Place
The Realm of Shadows > The Crystal Portal on Kyla
Kila > Speak to the Oracle
All of then are pointing to a location on Kila where i can't reach, a cave with Spider Webs blocking its way.

I have problem with the Voodoo trainer chick on Kila. I''m a Voodoo pirate, I got the Rebound spell from Kamil for finding the idol. I bought Live leach (or what is it called) from the Voodoo chieftan, but when I want ot buy some spells from the Voodoo chick it takes the jade from my inventory and shows that I received the spell from her but it is not in the Magic tab. Tried with all the spells she offers and it's the same. Anyone encountered this?

Check under Right Hand in Equipment, where you normally put sword or shotgun/musket. I found 2 Demon Hunter spells there.
Anyone found all recipes for permanent stat boost potions? I'm missing 2 :/

Men, do some quests become inaccessible after you pick a faction? I want to join the mages to get Magic but don't want to miss out on anything.

You could never do every single quest in one playthrough in PB games, so its very likely the same.
I'm already addicted to the game. Exploring Taranis atm as I want to be a mage.
The difficulty on hard is just as I expect from PB games. you can go everywhere, but you won't survive in many places. The progress to a non squishy char, is slow and rewarding.

ofc some quests become unavailable. all those which you get when joined a fraction. you can do the start quests from the other fractions, but the specific ones after you became a member of them not (cause once you joined a fraction you cant quit)

I only played 1-2 hours, I like it since it has that weird dorky feel PB games have. It's clunky, the VA is crap and combat is OK, but it's fun. I don't think the combat is horrible though, I get the same feeling I got with the Gothic games and Risen 1. I hope the combat gets better and better with more skills. I remember I hated the combat in Gothic 2 untill I knew WTF I was doing.
If you thought Risen 1 was OK and Risen 2 was crap, stay away from this game. If you loved Risen 1 and enjoyed 2, you'll like this one.

Are the DLC items the ones in the chest in your cabin? I don't find the combat very difficult yet, so maybe I'm using those items.

the dlc items are in your inv. theyre' called adventure boots, coat, etc.
They give a substantial boost.
I've yet to find a coat that has the same stats as the DLC coat, so I disabled that crap and never wore it.

I never wore DLC items either.
They are exactly as strong as tier 2 faction armor. You use that armor until the end parts of the game. Silly shit. Don't spoil yourself.
Combat never gets as frustrating as R2, it is hard, if you play on hard and solo it - for a while. Then if you made a good build, and learned timings, you will own everything. But it feels great.

It's ok. There is one sort of op spell in the game. The rest is pretty balanced and fun to use.

Is there some kind of logical order to the islands?

You're supposed to go to Antigua first, then you're free to explore.
I think I messed up my order - went to Catarigua and Kila first, then to Antigua. Pretty much finished those 2 islands but there's plenty to do on the other 2 main islands + I have the 2 DLC islands left.

Nope. You are free to explore, go kill, what you want (and can) kill. Completely free in that regard.
Go first to the island of the faction you want to join, and join the faction. That gives you more versatility in combat.
Then you have a few main quests, those determine the progression of the story, and a FUCKTON of side quests, secrets, treasures, you name it. It's pretty big. I'm in chapter 2, I've done Kila, Taranis, Tacarigua, Antigua, and am like third way through with Calador. Only side quests, aside from getting my faction. 30 hours.
Very please with the game.

I went to the gnome island first, as a DLC area it's not that big but there's a lot of good stuff to find so I was pretty well equipped when I left, gnomes also sell lockpicks and teach many stealth related skills.
(Mostly weaker enemies but early on in the game goblins or even the crab or fish creatures can be difficult.)

I'm pleasantly surprised, this game is pretty good. But combat is often too easy even on hard difficulty. I joined guardians and those magic fists are just OP with Crystal magic 3/3. But they are fun, I refuse to go back and join some other faction just to get the game a bit more challenging.
But I admit, the game was quite challenging in the beginning, until I adapted. It reminds me of Witcher 2 where it started by being challenging and slowly became very easy as the game progressed.
