So I'm planing to switch the internal HDD on my PS3 with a bigger one. Now i have a 300 GB HDD, and I would like to go bigger. So I'm down to:
a)Western Digital HDD 2.5'', 1TB, SATA/600, 5400RPM, cache 8MB, blue
or
b)Western Digital HDD 2.5'', 750GB, SATA/600, 7200RPM, cache 16MB, black
Now I've done some digging online and people say that 7200 RPM will cause overheat issues and the the speed differences are little to none, because the PS3 uses SATA2, but there are those who say that not true and that there is a difference and that there is no heating issue on 7200RPM HDDs.
Now I don't know how tech savvy those people are, as what I found was on various obscure forum and those users didn't seems too into the technical stuff. So I'm wondering what do you guys recommend.

"latest" rebug CFW is actually really really old. you might want to update to cfw that is up to date, which is 4.60

Is this trusted enough CFW 4.60 FERROX ?
Recently i did a Restore default and all my saves are not working tried rebuilding database filesystem nothing seems working created a new user and only a handful of games loading not all I'm tempting to use this CFW to get back to working stage

So I'm screwed basically without a hardware flasher if my PS3 has 4.65 firmware on it?

Yes, it also needs to be an older one (I believe unless something has changed it has had to have had 3.55 on it at some point in the past)

Well the console is old as fuck, Phat PS3, and can be reverted from what I googled, shame it seems the hardware flasher stuff costs a lot though :l

Anyone got a link for the cheapest E3 Flasher? With international Shipping? It seems like the best choice for downgrading am I right? And easiest on top of that.
Ebay has so many variations on what comes with it and what doesn't, looking for a "ready to run" package.
Thank you!
Or any alternatives are welcome aswell?

AliExpress is legit, it's a Chinese wholesaler - just watch out for delivery times, which are usually 3 weeks upwards.

I meant that E3 flasher can be fake. AliExpress is legit and I've just bought one football jersey from some random seller. It came within 10 work days even though regular delivery time was about one month.

There is *no* way to install CFW over >3.55 OFW. Not since Sony changed everything. If you're on OFW above 3.55, do not try to install this as you will brick your machine. I wouldn't trust what "PS3Portal" says.

Sounds too good to be true. Then again, old gen is pretty much abandoned by SOny/MS, so a hack like that doesn't come as that big of a surprise. However this is the first last gen with a heavy online integration, so I wonder how long this hack would last...

Also not true about being abandoned. Sony keeps fucking ODE solutions over pretty hard.

So anyone got a link for a definitive guide I should use to do it? Or can I just download the latest CFW and flash it as the PS3 I got recently is running a 3.15 Firmware from stone age?

I can't seem to get the PS3 to find the update from the USB stick, what format should the USB stick be in? FAT32?
Update is in the /PS3/UPDATE/ folder named as PS3UPDAT.PUP
