I mentioned earlier - the fps seems to have been improved to a playable state (at least in drone matches - MP is still utterly unplayable) so it might be worth giving it another shot.

Not for me, it's every bit as awful as it always was. The only way to play it anywhere near to 50fps is to run at 720p with absolute lowest settings, and 30fps is too sluggish.. this is one of those games where <60 *feels* like it's running half speed.

Wonder if I can get a stream running or something, see if what I perceive as 'good' is actually tumour-inducing.

I believe 275 is for the package which includes the game, other features and 6 Months Insurance.
Ship alone is 225 with 6 Months Insurance.

You don't have to pay 275 for the ship (the Constellation) once you are in the game. You can just earn the money to buy it by doing missions.
About the model, it's a backer reward. They had extras (for whatever reason). They decided to sell them (fucking shocking i know)

Yeah, you can pay a shortcut of $225 to buy it now... or bust your ass for 6 months to earn credits to buy it in-game. It's all so clear to me now.

I doubt even the developers know how long you will have to work to earn enough credits for a Constellation with that said it won't take 6 months. Perhaps a few weeks or something i'm guessing

I would prefer it took a long time to get the bigger ships. I enjoy working my way towards the biggest goals.
If people prefer to pay real money for a fantasy ship, I don't mind. Just as long as the price reflects the amount of work it would require.
CR wants the game to be about skill before ship/gear - and I'm hoping they can deliver on that.

Two things I'm looking forward to learning about this is how exactly the larger ships will function, and how will gameplay inside a ship feel like for a crew member. Is it fun to man a station in a ship? It doesn't sound fun at all, especially over time, but maybe some sort of team spirit can form and you have fun just to be a cog in the machinery.
If your machine sucks (bad frame-rates) then maybe your experience will be better if you're playing either as a marine or a crew member. That means staying inside a base or ship interior.

well, like in eve, i would love to destroy a ship on which someone put 1+ months to get, and had no ideea how to use it. if he paid real $ for it, pleasure is at least doubled.

There's nothing wrong with the concept of the crowdfunding system, the same as there is nothing wrong with the concept of the publisher financed system. The problem is in people that exploit a system for the own benefit, not in the system itself.

Hey, if someone wants to buy a toy for 125 bucks and it happens to benefit the game I pledged (aka. PRE-ORDERED) 40 bucks for, then by all means let them.

Seems like CR has said in an interview today (they are at Gamescom) that earning a connie should take about a week or so.

the only thing that really annoyed me, was the arena unveil had the pilot get in the ship, then the hangar door opened and he flew out into drone combat, whereas the actual game has a load screen. I was really looking forward to finally getting that deep immersion.
I actually need to fire it up since I haven't for a few patches now (stopped playing when the texture loading was so laggy. Hope it's better now)
