Some say it's dangerous and you almost decompose if you drink too much, and others say that it's not dangerous at all. Some say you don't lose weight, but actually gain weight, others say that there it's absolutely impossible to gain weight from the soda itself. Who knows what the truth is.. I certainly won't believe anything as long as there are so many conflicting findings.
I drink all the different types of Cola of Zero and Light since some years now when i did a diet. From the taste i meanwhile like them much more than that sweet sugar shit.
When i get ravenous appetite (correct meaning?) i often just drink half a liter of it and am full for a while. Drinking the same amount of mineral water doesn't make me fed for even a moment. I read some "studies" that is is said to be the opposite: When you drink those light/zero things you get a ravenous appetite.
And i don't give a shit about some studies saying that those used sweeteners are bad. I mean, it can't be worse than drinking sugar
Diet coke tastes better and what is the problem with cutting out simple carbs when you eat some pizza? There is a lot of sugar in regular coke and that will be absorbed by your body very quickly.

Light/Zero drinks -> best
If the hunger is for no other reason i have read that "Aspartame" makes you extra hungry and that it is the actual reason for gaining weight when drinking light soda. If this is true then you will still only benefit from the soda as long as you are aware and keep a disciplined mind regarding you diet.
There isn't a single proper medical research pointing out aspartame's rumoured bad effects afaik. If you absolutely have to drink cola, you can better get the diet ones IMO, the calory content is much lower. I don't drink cola though, so I have no idea how the taste differs.
I don't think there is consistent data on anything regarding diet sodas. Just a bunch of opinions and contradictions. The aspartame at least is the only thing i've seen repeated pretty much everywhere.
My first thought was "only three slices"?
But then I remembered that you're in the states and those slices are probably HUGE.
When I was in New York I wasn't able to find American pizza at all. There where lots of Italian pizza places tho.
When we are 4+ people here in Norway we usually order 2 large pizzas (American). There are always leftovers, but we really love to hit the pizza hard when we first gonna eat pizza! And always with white sauce! Thats the standard here... white and red sauce.
The only places we can buy slices are 7eleven and some few gas stations. Very average pizza.
From my vodka and coke days and now I just prefer the taste of diet. After drinking 2 litres or more of regular coke with your vodka it becomes quite sickly.

Aspartam mhhhh... nothing better then slowly destroying your body.
And what about some fluoride, which are part of how much? 30 psychotropic drugs. Toxic waste from many companys, somehow they have to get rid of it... why not put it into toothpaste and tapped water (us and some other countrys). Theres already science evidence that it has no positive influence on dental enamel, rather the opposite. Well, i guess im getting OT...
if you are a conspiracy nut and firmly believe it, it might kill you as a kind of placebo poison
overall there was never a single conclusive scientific study that confirms this, while its not the healthiest thing on the planet, it has no proven negative effects in non-excessive doses.
