Half Life 2 - lol - so many fps games improved on that mechanic and on the genre since. heck, doom 3 had better fps moments than hl2. it only sucked cause of the flash light and scripted events (which hl2 was riddled with also filled with repetitive segments and total linearity)
cod - only cod that is worth mentioning is the one that started the cod franchise. none of that ww bull shit. that modern warfare shit. that right there is what should be number one. the psychology and philosophy that went into that game is beyond spectacular.

Really bad list. At least 25 of the titles in that list do not belong. When you make a list for a certain genre you gotta understand what makes that genre unique. BIA does not belong on that list. Titanfall does not belong on that list. Deus Ex IW does not belong on that list. Halo franchise does not belong on that list. Black Ops 2 does not belong on that list. Battlefield 3 does not belong on that list. Mirrors Edge does not belong on that list. Mirrors edge 2 might belong on it. Medal of honor battlefield edition does not belong on that list. Portal isn't even a FPS. Like wtf. Bad Company 2 ranked lower than BF3. it's like... ARE THEY RATING GRAPHICS OVER GAMEPLAY!? 'Cause BF3 is shit compared to BC2.
So many bad FPS games on there that either tried to copy a certain franchise, that tried a gimmick and used that for its entire franchise even though the rest of the mechanics in the game are shit (BIA), you do not fill the list with sequels because they improved on the mechanic, just include the franchise (quake 1 - 2 - 3 [which should all unanimously hold spot 2)
The top 10 is so fucking safe. HL1 at 10 while HL2 at 1. HL1 is much better than HL2. In design, gameplay and story.
Kingpin and Requiem are two games that I liked. Nolf 1 and 2 were great as well. I also liked Bioshock even though it was lacking in the mechanics department ( no inventory etc.).Both thief games were fun and Dishonored was also lots of fun.
I found both HL1 and HL2 to be alright but that's because of all the awesome mods that came with them. ^_^
Never played Halo cause it was on consoles at the time and that just made me completely ignore it.

half-life 1 should be right there with quake 3, from a purely MP aspect. HL1 and all its mods (including CS). And Quake 1-3 should be 1 entry (q4 isn't much different from 3 either, kinda).
if you don't look at the places(Halo higher then Original Half life ) ,means higher!=better ,and with few exceptions like Invisible wars need to be replaced with Original Deus ex,and few other games,the list mostly fine,if you ask me....

it's not for most obvious reasons - portal / mirrors edge are not FPS games. it has halo... when goldeneye or perfect dark would be enough. Then move onto MW. Halo is shit for FPS. It also did nothing for the FPS genre.
so much rage building at all these lists.. you can't compare games from different era's neither score them in lists but i will say that these were all ground breaking games:
Doom.
Quake.
Duke3d.
Unreal.
Halflife.
Halflife 2.
Even maybe Portal, L4D and Dayz to some degree just for trying to create new types of gameplay. Most of those in that list are same game, same gameplay and same engine just reskinned as well.
Soldier of Fortune 2 #1 on my list still playing the shit out of it!!!! yes the GFX might be dated but the gameplay and gore are still top notch. I Hate COD and MW weee I hit someone with a bazooka and squirt a little blood and ragdoll BS. SOF2 I do the same thing and BOOM... arms, legs. torso, head and blood go everywhere! now I know I killed someone in sof2!!!

Call of duty for example no doubt been milked to death anyone who like FPS got sick of it. even I stopped played newest games of the series long time ago,however,ignoring completely the franchise is ignoring the fact that it's one of the most played FPS games and sold millions and got nice critics. it might not be the top 10 list,but at least the first the Original game or original MW should be in the top 30-20 FPS,aside those games,the series pretty much gone downhill.
