By reinventing our approach to the franchise, The Settlers - Kingdoms of Anteria offers players a brand new experience full of new possibilities to explore," said Christopher Schmitz, Director of Product Development at Blue Byte. "Without a doubt, this is the most innovative Settlers’ game we have ever created."
The trailer looked very fishy, but I'll reserve my judgement for now
After Settlers for facebook and The Settlers Online, I don't know what to think about Blue Byte anymore.
First half of trailer looked to me like another moba game. I hope i am wrong, because i'd really like another settlers or anno game. Its been too long since proper ones, not counting those shitty online versions.
It is way premature to call what this thing is, but man, that trailer's graphical style annoys me. It channels over-used Pixar, Toy Story'ish vibes. I'm sure it'll be something similar for the in-game graphics.
The Settlers - Kingdoms of Anteria will provide a completely new game experience by combining city building and real time strategy action. You will build up a prosperous economy and lead your champion through dangerous adventures in order to create a wealthy, bustling and glorious kingdom
Leading adventurers in-directly is something that is the core of the "Majesty" games. You build your city up to assist heroes roaming around hunting monsters, and they buy equipment etc in your buildings.
- always online (!), cause its a persistent city/world you got (so you don't need to build a new city every level)
- maybe microtransactions like in the settlers online - you can give your settlers buffitems etc.
- your city will be producing goods even if you are offline
- seven hero characters like knight and beastmaster - all of them got special abilities
- fighting sequences are a mix of rts and dungeon crawler/action-rpg
R.I.P. Settlers, welcome back UbiDRM

I don't want to control heroes grinding monsters in Settlers. There are tons of other games focusing on that. They've gone fucked it up.
"Kingdoms of ..." implies there are already established Kingdoms in the area; the cool thing about The Settlers was to settle and compete for new territories with untapped natural resources and fight off rivals.
I guess i am in denial of such atrocity like Settlers 5 was and my mind is stuck in Settlers 2
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
Over the last few months we received a lot of questions about The Settlers: Kingdoms of Anteria.
Today, we have an important announcement to make.
When we ended the Closed Beta of The Settlers: Kingdoms of Anteria in January 2015 we received a lot of feedback, and we want to thank all those of you who shared these valuable insights with us. We took time to read through comments from different sources, such as social media, forums, emails, and preview articles. We also took time to reflect on our ambitions for the project and where we wanted to head with it.
After much discussion, we made the decision to steer this project in a new direction, meaning The Settlers: Kingdoms of Anteria as you know it, no longer exists. However, we are excited to announce that we have been working hard to create a new game, a challenging Real Time Strategy experience that we are revealing to you today, Champions of Anteria. To be clear, the game isn’t part of The Settlers series, but a new adventure that will further explore the lands of Anteria.
http://www.championsofanteria.com/ Champions of Anteria is a tactical RTS with Active-Pause-Mode in which you can fight with three of five Champions in diverse and challenging battles. Each Champion is aligned to a magical element, and players must strategically choose the powers they bring into a battle, as interactions between affinities constitute a very important part of the gameplay. Champions of Anteria features a completely new narrative and adventure for players to enjoy. With a renewed focus on story, the economic and logistic features are revised and are handled via a homebase management system where you can craft items for your Champions and unlock new abilities.
For those who are wondering about the classic The Settlers series, rest assured that The Settlers is well alive and kicking!
We want to thank all of you who enjoy The Settlers games for your on-going support. Making games is our passion and we can’t wait to share Champions of Anteria with you when it launches on August 30.
