damn i wish theyd port this over to pc too...with all the consoles goin out of date id like to just fire it up on my pc instead of hooking another console up and getting used to its controls...even with the plus of playin it on a bigscreen...oh well, maybe when the next game in the series comes out on 360 itll be ported to pc fairly soon, since the architecture is so similar..one can only hope..

As they answered already, they don't have a modchip.

does it work with Swap Magic?

you can probably rebuild it, i've not had a single game that cannot be rebuilt to use swapmagic, only takes 5 mins and nothing missing, if it is to big just follow these steps:

Step 1.
Get release (no asking where thats your problem)

Step 2.
Open up Isobuster and load in the image file.

Step 3.
Hold shift and highlight all the game files and put them in a folder.

Step 4.
Open up Nero burning rom and create a new UDF/ISO dvd (It's the last one in the list). Drop all the game files into Nero in the same order as it is listed in Isobuster. Just keep Isobuster open as a reference when you do this. Nero will change the order of the files graphically, however they burn in the order that you dropped them in.

Step 5.
Select yes to burn/continue if any warning popup about disc not being compatible

Step 6.
Name the image and burn it at 2x.

has worked for every single game that is too big for swapmagic to load

who needs modchips and warrenty remains intact

thank u for the explanation! i have rebuild other games in the past! but i want to know if i'll need to rebuild or it works right away!
when anyone trist with SM please say something

here's a really good reason. i got my PS2 shortly after it was released. how old is it... like 4-5 yrs or so? why would i spend money on getting a chip installed if the risk of my old PS2 breaking down is already high enough?

ive been using swap magic for quite awhile now and it really was the cheapest solution available for a gaming console almost on its death bed and it works perfectly with all games ive burned so far... the last one being shadows of the colossus.

so there =P

I have a magic chip (don't know the version) and it sucks.. Many games just freez though some work.. I had no problem with Shadow of the colossus. Seems that the magic chip cannot handle games with lots of video/mode change. Realtime only games work great though.. wierd

Edit: No prerendered videos in this game, right?

With hdloader I haven't burned a single coaster since months. All my games are on hdd, loading times are shorter and when I don't like a game I just delete it.

Elazul, ppl does what they want Smile i got a messiah, it's the perfect chip Smile
me too dunno why ppl use swap shit and others things lol.. but if they prefer Wink

Theres many good reasons to use swap magic / HDLoader instead of a modchip. The main ones being that You don't risk fucking up your ps2 by installing a chip, it's cheaper, and running games off of a hard drive won't wear out your laser. I've went through 2 ps2's because the shitty laser was worn out. I think it's mainly the DVD-R's that are harder for it to read so it strains it more.

btw yes this game does work with HDLoader, so most likely any other hard drive program. Only thing im disappointed about tho is I just read that the graphics had to be toned down for this ps2 version. That really sucks because I thought that ps2 was more powerful than gamecube.

If you read abit closelely you will also read that the graphical changes are barely visible, so it's not a big deal.

The ps2 is the less powerful console on the market btw, remember that it came out shortly after the dreamcast. But what makes is power is the HUGE game library and support from developers. The hardware being fully understood it's easy for the developers to create games with the minimalist differences in confront of their gamecube or xbox counterparts.

I'm currently playing RE4 on Gamecube and I seriously doubt the PS2 version has the nearly photo-realistic textures of the Gamecube version (which look at least as good as in the best modern PC games). But I'm envious of Ada's Separate Ways mission. I hate it when they add new stuff while porting a game to another platform. And how stupid is it that you have to unlock it first?? There's no way I will play the entire game again in inferior quality on PS2. Sad

Gotta say they done a good conversion here, hardly any difference between GC and PS2, not enough to say "look the PS2 looks rubbish alongside the GC", infact too me it looks sharper than the GC version.

Dont forget mcmanic, in the ps2 version the enemies stay on the ground when they are dead, they dont vanish like on the cube version, this is a HUGE plus in my opinion. Smile
I heard rumors that the ps2 version would have the vanishing enemies too, but so far at the beginning (haven't had the time to play longer than the town) they have stayed so it was problary just a rumor that they would vanish when they become dead.

Wow really?

I dont have a PS2 anymore and will probably never play RE4 on PS2 but does that fact not have an impact on the framerate? The game does have a lot of enemies and I would think it gets pretty crowded on the floor if they dont disappear!

May the NFOrce be with you always.

ok im going to be in a minority here but i do not like this game, i mean u can only shoot standing still , how realsitic is that u cant even walk with your gun raised, u cannot strafe so u have to walk into a room and turn to look left or right and guess what theres a monster there already in attack mode but i couldnt see him till i turned my whole character through 90 degress which is too late. i think the game looks pretty good albeit very grainy graphics but for me the biggest let down is the controls there basic at best i mean no hot keys for inventory items it just seems klunky using the inventory etc... i was hoping for more and cannot beleive all the reviews and hype behind this one as the basic mechanics of character seems crap to me. i mean i want to run away from a few enemys so in real life i would move backwards while shooting the chasing / attacking enemy's however on this game i need to turn my back on the enemy run away stop turn around stand still and then shoot em while they close in on me again and then repeat the whole process . MADNESS. i have only played this for an hour and maybe i havent given it a proper go but it just seems old type klunky control on a revamped genre.

As for framerate, the 360 version runs smooth, while the PS3 is a jaggy mess that chugs along in slow motion.

You would think that the framerare would get affected by this, but it doesn't. Smile
The reason for the minimal graphical changes could be the dead enemies on screen.
But like I said, I only played to the first town so I dont know how it is later in the game, but it would be very strange if they suddenly started to vanish.

Edit: I just watched the IGN video review and in that the enemies DO vanish, talk about weird. This makes me think that this version might actually be a beta version or it's a specific PAL feature, but I dont see why the PAL version would get such a thing and not the NTSC version....
Or it might be that enemies only stay at the beginning?

Burger version here, i noticed at the beginning of the game the bad guys stay dead on the ground but slightly further into the game when there are more of them once you kill them they disappear, i would imagine it's to keep the frame rate high which i would prefer anyway, one thing i can't stand is a jerky frame rate when you are trying to aim a gun.

Any one else have this problem:
I save a game and it tells me that it has been saved sucessfully. But when I try to load, it says its corrupt. I have re-formated my mem.card, changed it to another, but no use. All other games save and loads nicely...what wrong?

Well, what i would like to know:

Is the BURGER-version absolutely *uncut*???

Because it seems to be the PAL-version...You know: SLES...

Hmm...

Are the bonusgames "Assignment Ada" and "The Mercenaries" included in this version?

Or do you think its much smarter to get the "real" NTSC-version released by DOSENPFAND?
