Release in Q3 2014
Quote:

We are making very good progress with developing the game. All major implementation challenges are solved. We have now started to focus on the user interface and game-play details.

Due to a short delay with reaching the last development milestone, we have decided to release Train Fever in Q3 2014. Originally we have planned to release in Q2. Thanks to the new release date, there is more time to bring the game to perfection. Funding for the additional development is already secured.

There will be a closed beta test in Q2. Details on how to register will be announced on this website a few weeks in advance (early enough so that everybody has a chance). The number of participants will be limited.

In the next weeks and months we continue with development updates on this website.

Thanks again for your input and feedback. We try to consider as much as possible, and some of your ideas have already made it into the game. We look forward to releasing a well worked out Train Fever in Q3!

Doubt it will be as good as TTD when it comes to making ridiculously complex train networks with over the top signal use, but it just might be a decent step-up from the last kiddie version of Railroad Tycoon.

I don't think any game can be better that TTD, seriously. And OpenTTD made the original even better.

Unlocks in 22 hours.

This one could be a nice surprise finally. Even though there is no campaign, the sandbox mode looks quite deep and the game is very mod-friendly.

I've always said. Some ambitious company really needs to take Train simulator and combine it with a genuine economic model. I can't even imagine it'd be that hard. They could have all the power and awesome graphics of train simulator with some great trading, and competition. All they'd need would be some more automated building tools, an AI (of which there are tons) and a little more focus on town growth and how it'd respond to the moving of goods. Just port like one of the railroad tycoons into TS...

This looks decent enough though.

There are many "episodic" videos of a user on Steam. Here's the YT playlist:
