That's a year of work for a team of four with 500€ a month salary. And that's before what kickstarter takes, before kickstarter rewards and before taxes, so it's more like 6 months of work or even less.

Played it cca 3 months ago. I think my key is still valid. Didn't like it :/ But it was alpha or even pre-alpha build. Sound was buggy, movement animation were shitty and it had some weird combat mechanics (dunno if they changed that part). And the worst thing was that everything was too dark. Yeah, i know it was alpha build and it's now probably in better condition.

Red Solstice has been on NFO in the past and it always looked really interesting to me, I hope your friends can hit their targets but $50k just for the arena/swarms and another $50k for the story? It might be hard. I'd back it if I had the money because I like the look of it, so good luck!

I like such games but I don't like click to move movement system. If it was with direct control...

Direct control was discussed but they prefer more strategic movement so that you can use your mouse for other stuff while moving.

Anyway, hope they reach their goal. They have spent a lot of time working on this getting paid nothing.

Seems to be based on those WC3 custom maps that used the easter-egg starcraft models. At least it reminds me of it. Gameplay is pretty much the same.

From their FAQ on the Steam forums:

Will there be a singleplayer campaign for TRS?

-Singleplayer campaign is in development and will be ready for the official release of the game.

In space, nobody can see you bleed? Cool Face

good that they added female marines. They better have equal stats as men, or I will be writing a 4 page blog piece on it.

We are happy to announce that this update marks one of the last milestones in the early access stage in the development of The Red Solstice. Yesterday, we have publicly announced the official release date as 9'th of July 2015. We are making a final push to make everything in time, and so far we feel that the puzzle pieces are clicking into place nicely.

Singleplayer, that has been one of our focus points during these last months of early access development, is in the internal testing phase. Some of our most active users have been granted access to first seven missions and will soon be granted access to the rest. There are of course still things that need fixing and improving, but the overall response has been positive, and we are confident that by including additional mechanics such as the slow motion "tactical mode" we have managed to translate the essence of what this game should be to a singleplayer experience. Singleplayer will be enabled to all players with the full release.

Dear community, almost exactly a year ago we went public with a project named The Red Solstice and a promise to make it into a full game. Today we are honored to announce that our promise is kept. The Red Solstice is officially released.

As of now, singleplayer campaign is unlocked for everyone who has bought the game. Singleplayer features story driven missions with high degree of replayability. It allows you to build, lead and upgrade your own team of elite marines as they explore the infested ruins of Tharsis. During singleplayer campaign, you can use "tactical mode" that allows you to slow down time and issue orders to your whole team.

Tactical mode is also present in Survival game mode that allows you to experience multiplayer portion of the game, while playing solo, with up to three AI controlled marines.

As always, after you have mastered the basics of the game, you can jump into the multiplayer and team up with up to 8 human players, as you struggle to survive and conclude the story that has started in singleplayer.

First of all, we would like to thank our alpha testers who spent years with us, providing us with essential feedback and initial financial support we desperately needed in order to formalize our company.

Next, another big thank you to our 1,504 Kickstarter backers who helped us gather $60,836. Thanks to that financial inflow, we were able to rent and equip a small office and dedicate ourselves to The Red Solstice as a full time job.

Last, but not the least, thanks to all our Steam customers who trusted us and bought The Red Solstice during our year long early access phase. Without you, we would not have been able to sustain ourselves for this year of intensive work.

We hope you'll enjoy the game and we're looking forward to our future adventures on Mars.

Ironward team
