If it's anything like DK1, they'll be able to ramp up pretty quickly. I think you'll definitely be seeing yours by the end of August. Although I guess it also depends on where you live. They're sending them out in batches to specific locations. I believe USA and Japan are first. Trying to get more detailed info.

I'm so hyped! Even took the last week of July off work, really hoping mine arrives on time... I ordered within the first 5 hours.

turns out it's just an animation
i wondered why the distortion was so weird
they just added "censored" everywhere to hide how fucking fake it is
just pisses me off

enough internet for today
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Yeah, there's much more if you're brave enough to look into this gray area of weirdness

They seemed to work just fine on the first DK, which had FEWER buyers, so why the change for DK2? This isn't some cheap gadget for the consumer either, it's pretty damned expensive, so it would be nice to have decent packaging like the original DK1 has. It seems, to me, that it's just yet another example of a company no longer having to impress its customers so why go to the trouble?
You are right, it's the product that matters, but if that was the case then why go to all that trouble prettying up the case for DK1 only to skimp out on later editions?

I'm just speculating here but DK2 is being made and sent to alot more people than DK1 right?
So perhaps the box for the DK1 cost to much so they went with the cheaper boxes (to avoid having to raise prices just because of the packaging). Not saying it's awesome that they did it or that i agree with them but i do understand that it's bad business to sell stuff at a loss.

while the dk1 box is really good it's also a bit impractical
it's too big to carry comfortably and too small to be it's own proper case
i just dump it in my backpack and other needed stuff on top
i would have wanted to see another sexy box like it but with lower costs and just being a devkit i really don't mind it much

Yeah it looked great but it was actually difficult and time consuming to get rift back in there

Sounds like my co-workers when I told them to put the machinery correctly in their cases instead of just throwing it together or removing the inner placeholders so they could just dump it in.
It takes a few minutes...

So, when we receive the dk2 will we have to wait until current oculus games and demos are updated to support the new dk2?
My mind and body is ready, my pc hardware has been updated. Now send me plox.
Seriously though, I think may have to wait, I know I'm not going to be in the first batch ;(
Edit: for some reason I didn't think I pre ordered on the 19th, just checked PayPal and I did indeed pay that day. That means I should get I'm first delivery batch, fingers crossed.

Yes they need to be updated. If you ordered within the first 1-3 hours you're probably in the first batch yes.
I'm too curious to hold off, i really prefer to use final products, same with games, i never play betas or alphas..
