Ahh, Freelancer... Black Prophecy reminded me how much I love space sims and I decided to play through Freelancer again. I don't remember anything about it, not even if I finished it, so it's time to relive this glorious game. It's amazing how freaking good this game still is. The combat system so fluid, intuitive, fun and engaging...
Anyway, I downloaded two mods for it too: Crossfire (1.5GB size, WOW!) and Discovery, gonna have some fun with them after I finish main story.
BTW, anyone knows how to play it on widescreen (1440x900, to be exact)?

http://www.moddb.com/mods/crossfire
The next Crossfire release is coming out soon and it looks like this is the big one, the main total conversion that they've been working on for 2 years! Supposedly development finishes this month and then the release is happening.. and it sounds like it's going to be incredible! It's been 2 years since my last replay.. time for a new one
~Crossfire 2.0, also known as "Freelancer 2: Crossfire" Information~
Quote: |
The Crossfire Mod is by far the biggest and most complex Freelancer modification available. For many years this mod is known for highest quality and innovative ideas which we have introduced to the Freelancer modding scene.
With Crossfire we have build and extended an universe based on the original Freelancer game and its story. Realism and a logical development of the quest based storyline and the game environment such as the systems and the technological development is most important on this mod. Crossfire is not a static mod like most others, it is a dynamic developing environment with dynamic economy, dynamic universe, destructable solars and download content (DLC) which introduces new quests, new ships, new systems and new equipment.
Most important in this mod is the atmosphere.
High quality graphics, high quality music tracks, more than 150 very detailed systems, new voice samples, stunning effects, many challenging quests, ten thousands of small side stories and rumours, fantastic gameplay and hundreds of cool ships. That is the Crossfire mod. |

@Veki
Sorry for not replying before, I honestly didn't see it I don't have any recommendations on patches either since I usually tend to stick to the TC mods which have their own updates/changes.

*it's happening.gif* Finally!
The amount of new features is truly staggering.. I'll have to postpone the new playthrough though, it's painful to resist but I need to put an end to my endless backlog first

Holy shit, that indeed looks fucking awesome!
Maybe worth putting up a little server for us if there is enough animo?
Shame i lost my mod that i created back in the day.. What a pain in the ass it was having those ini files.. (still have a big ass tutorial printed on paper on how to create your own systems etc)

Well was going to try the older version of the mod, but with a clean install of the game, FLMM 1.3 and ofc having full rights i get this error when trying to activate:
Quote: | Error: problem activating 'Crossfire Mod 1.9 Client Edition'
Error: SHCopyFile failed ('C:\Program Files (x86)\Freelancer Mod Manager\mods\Crossfire1.9\DATA\SOLAR\STARSPHERE\sp1.cmp' to 'C:\Games\Freelancer\DATA\SOLAR\STARSPHERE\sp1.cmp') |
Tried google a bit, but the only things that came out of that where surrounding folder permissions and admin rights etc.. but i have full rights everywhere..

Just download the game itself, no patches whatsoever, seemed to work for me when I installed 1.9 but holding off and waiting for the 2.0
