They claim that it will be sold at cost; what it costs to build is what it will sell for on the shelf, but eghhh.. I'll believe it when I see it. Either that or, because they're touting the consumer model as being significantly better than even DK2, it could be the inevitable excuse "oh.. well.. the consumer kit costs us $399 to make, so that's what we'll sell it for... teehee..." Most of my stuff got cut out (yay!) but I still appear briefly, strapping people in and hyping a word or two.
There is really no new information and no English subtitles, so I don't know if it's of interest to anyone. Smile

Would have been nice if they would have kept the bit about my games in and other faffing about.

Didn't know you are finnish. Very Happy
But congrats on being "famous". Wink

But out of curiosity, what kind of presentation did you have of your games?

Had the girl play a bit of my schizophrenia game and they interviewed me about it and vr in general.
But they cut out all but one sentence from it.
Also, they filmed me playing hydradeck cover shooter, which looks really cinematic from the outside and presents the strengths of VR really well, but they only show like two seconds of that with very little movement.

Heh...just discoverd an advantage of watching YT videos on my mobile. I can put a cartboard sheet in the middle and watch oculus videos just fine. Laughing

Got a tiny bit of eye strain from a WT vid, and I'd guess all those fast flybys can make me nauseous eventually.

?

X360 controller is quite good actually.
And it is already doing a great job with the Rift, I can just imagine this team releasing a nice "Razer Hydra" style controller but available and at a reasonable price ^^

Great. I think hydra like controllers are best and least cumbersome controllers possible for vr. They just mimic Your arms and hands.
until then 360 controller will do. Its my fav controller

No, I just have an Oculus Rift so I know what works and what doesn't. Exactly where am I fooling myself?

You are fooling yourself by thinking this is a serious discussion.

Might be a stupid question, but you do call it a schizophrenia simulator. How do you know you're simulating schizophrenia in your game?

Everything, pretty much, even for standard non-fighting game use.. it's just a terrible dpad, certainly the worst I've ever used Sad Shame too as everything else about the 360 controller is great.

I've finished couple of games on ps3 and I dont tihnk that one is much beter. The ps3 dpad is also set on "one moving button platform". The form factor is just different

The biggest fact i've ever discovered is that one the internet, once a conversation becomes a discussion then it will lead nowhere good regardless. Stalemate is all you can hope to achieve. Not always easy to walk away though Razz

Might be a stupid question, but you do call it a schizophrenia simulator. How do you know you're simulating schizophrenia in your game?

because we read up on symptoms and tried to recreate them
most were social and because we didn't have AAA budget we focused on everything else
paranoia, sense of persecution, anxiety, disorientation, hallucinations, lost time
it's probably not medically accurate but the simulations i've seen are not any more accurate
it's mostly an exercise in empathy, much like my blindness simulation game

i wish i had a shitload of money - i'd love to do a wider empathy study with social situations
not of more ill people but people in different life situations physically, emotionally or otherwise

For anybody else who ordered a DK2:

"Official DK2 Shipping Update (July 1st 2014)

The first batch of official DK2s have left the manufacturing facility and are making their way to our distribution centers now. We expect to ship roughly 10,000 DK2s from the factory in July, with just over half of the units through distribution centers and on their way to doorsteps before the end of the month. The very first units are expected to reach developers the week of July 14th. Tracking numbers for all DK2s will be generated as soon as the shipment has been processed by a distribution center.

Please take a moment to confirm that your shipping address is up to date via the Oculus Sales page (https://www.oculusvr.com/sales/). We'll ship to the address on file, and if the information is incorrect, it may cause delivery delays. In the event that your payment information is no longer valid, you'll receive an email prior to shipment with instructions on how to complete your payment.

We're now over 45,000 DK2 pre-orders, which is incredibly exciting. That said, we're slightly behind in manufacturing and there's currently a high chance that some developers with estimated shipping in July may not have their DK2s shipped until August. We have a team in China working on continued ramp of production at our factory, and we'll work our way through the queue as fast as we can.

Once your Development Kit 2 is ready for shipment, you'll receive an email with a tracking number which can be used to see an estimated delivery date. Please do not contact Oculus support asking for a shipping estimate, as we do not know the status of your package until a tracking number has been generated.

We'll continue to post status updates, so everyone can stay current on what's going on behind the scenes. Thanks again for your continued support, and we hope everyone is excited to be begin working with DK2!"

Yeah, I believe Nate Mitchell's exact words were, “We’ll ship 20-30,000 (DK2s) in July, I believe.. If you place an order today, you should receive it in August".

Oh, well. I'm just glad I ordered within 3 hours on day 1. They sold 12,500 in the first 36 hours. I'm just hoping I'm in the first 5k.
