Predators wasn't bad, but it needed a better lead.

Brody was like 95 pounds, he should have had a hernia trying to lift that auto shotty he had. Laughing

I'm not saying they need to cast someone who does steroids for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but someone a bit more rugged and masculine would be nice.

Someone like Channing Tatum.

I still can't understand how can a movie that doesn't have its own story and badly copies the original Predator 1:1 be 'not bad'.

Mind Is Full Of Fuck

Even AVP1 had some kind of attempt at a story/mystery, some A&P background

"Copies 1:1" Are You Serious

You mean it's a genre parody film as well? O rly? Which one?
Or you mean they die one by one, so it's copy 1:1? Laughing if so, yes, but that's quite formulaic for horror survival flicks. If anything, the original turned the military macho genre on its head and transformed it completely to a horror-survival genre very effectively. Predators was a much simpler accomplishment in that regard, it was a typical by the book horror survival, but still had redeeming qualities for me that made it OK for me.

Predators had a great ensemble cast, a script with enough wit to sustain 90 minutes and a director with a solid understanding of the genre.

AVP completely shat all over the existing mythology, had a Predator making friends with the hero, a PG-13 rating and Paul "not the good one" Anderson at the helm.

"Die, you space faggot!" Laughing

That would work if it was a no-budget student flick about kids murdered one by one. But with such budgets, with TONS of lore available, with so many possible ideas and scenarios they choose to copy P1...

And some other people really thinks it's ok to do that. It's like you take the LOTR universe for example, and make a slasher with dem dwarves being whacked one by one inside a single building. It's that level of idiocy.

since these movies are all one-off and self-contained anyway, i dont really care if its a 'reboot' just for the sake of taking the original movies name, just as long as its not a remake. there is only one Dutch.

as i said, each movie was basically its own unconnected entity (only keeping the same mythology) so makes no sense to start again... but i wonder if they'll call it predator: SOMETHING, or just do what i initially assumed they would; do their own thing, but just call it 'predator', so that its both recognisable and newcomers wont be put off thinking they're coming into something mid-franchise.

either way, dont really care. i enjoy predator, look forward to seeing what they can do with it. i think id actually lke to see them do a film set WAYYY back in the past. imagine medieval knights vs predators... especially with a hard R rating, that would be awesome. could mix in some of the usual traditional religious belief stuff trying to rationalise what the predators are, perhaps the knights going on a 'quest' much in the same way there were those quests to fight dragons in legends, perhaps a group of knights are tasked with defeating a 'demon' and they go on a journey, getting picked off one by one as they get close, by a group of predators or something.... man... that would be a film id want to watch...

http://collider.com/predator-sequel-shane-black-movie-will-reinvent-the-franchise/

Some OMG Shane Black is the bestest filmmaker of all time and this movie will be amaziiiiiiiiing talk by one of the producers.

Quote:
“Shane shot a movie and he’s doing a pilot now, but I’ve read a lot of his script and I think it’s genius. I think it’s genius and I think it’s entertaining, and what it did is recreate a famous franchise in a different, interesting way; looking at it from a different light. He’s just an amazing writer-director. He’s got a way of looking at this that makes you excited again. I love this franchise. It was the first movie I ever did. I remember in being in the jungle with Arnold [Schwarzenegger] as a 28-year-old and going, ‘This is a fun business!’…Shane’s amazing. He’s an amazing storyteller.”

“Shane’s got a writing partner, Fred Dekker. They’ve been doing it together and Fred’s great. The two of them together, they’ve been in the business for a long time, but the writing is so fresh, the perspective is so fresh. I’m telling you you’re going to get something you don’t expect and you’re going to say, ‘This is the most entertaining way to reinvent a franchise.’ I mean he’s the guy who wrote Iron Man 3.”

It's not like there's the chance of it being worse than blolololomkamp's future alien movie, right? Cool Face
