could be something else. i guess you're using wireless-n ? maybe some other setting it slowing down the speed. Maybe try another channel. Etc etc. who knows.

on the last router tried everything. 40hz, different channels g, n mixed etc etc.
This router now seems much better. Getting bigger speeds than ever on last router and i have not slowed down yet like last one did every couple of hours

Nah. I wouldn't got it if it wasn't like anything recommended here.
300mbit 3 antenas gigabit router with ftp if I want to attach hdd.
getting beret speeds than ever before. Downloaded alan wake in like 15 minutes.
seems stable now. If it won't block at 10mbit for no reason and i wont have to be rebooting it 3 times a day then iam happy

that speed is theoretically the speed limit you can reach with your dongle.
if for example it said 60 mbps instead of 150 you may had some issue with the router configuration/dongle itself.
but it seems okish.

i am getting 64 - 8mb of real download speeds
Looks likr the problem with slowing router down and having to reboot it, is also gone but its too early to say

if there is no issue with your router and your dongle ... your issue for not reaching top speed could be that you dont have the 5ghz band, and every damn device in your vicinity (cordless phones/keyboards/bluetooth/alarm/home thermostats) is using the standard 2.4 band. not to mention the other people with wifi routers.
thats why personally i would not get a router without 5ghz band. at least there are 23 chanels to chose from, and you battle only with other routers.
(but you would need a dongle which suport 5ghz band aswell if you move to 5ghz).
get a wifi app on your smartphone, and see how ocupied is a band.
rule of thumb is to check first the nonoverlaping 1/6/11 channels if i'm not mistaking.
can you make a test :
have only desktop conected.
start a big download (ubuntu distro for example) wait a bit for speed to be stable.
conect your phone, dont do anything and see how speed goes.

It was a problem with old router. With this one, as far as I've tested the speed don't go down when I connect other devices (unless they are downloading torrents)
SO yesterday was downloading Alan Wakr at about 6-7mb (not mbits)
connected nexus4, note2 and fathers acer laptop. Browsing on those and speed didn't went down so it seems great now.
as for other routers. there are 7 other routers in vacinity. All with weak signal on 2.4ghz (but slightly different). All on different channels than mine

hmm wondering. i'am getting 88 signal quality on my dongle.
It is also a tp-link dongle with removable antena, so i removed it and attached one of the 3 antenas from my router. (I guess it can operate with only 2 antenat right ?
and I am now getting 96 signal quality. Interdesting
Edit: That is interesting. i've noticed that I am overall getting better signal with 2 antenas than 3.
edit2: yep. new rocord. 76mbits. that is with one of the 3 antenas as replacement for antena on my dongle

5GHz is only available in USA afaik (and probably Japan and South Korea). It's illegal to use 5GHz in most European countries. (not sure where KC is from).

I am getting fantastic signal and speeds with my pc. But terrible signal strenght and speeds with my note2. In the same room as my pc.
what gives ?

So it is all happening again on new router. Sure i have better signal and speeds but connection speeds limit to 10mb after some time, or drops and i have to reset router.
so that is something wrong on my side.
Maybe i have static ip and not dynamic? Router auto detects static ip but I've always had dynamic. ... i am all out of ideas

It wasn't all that cheap to be honest but its tp-link so I might have fucked. But there must be a solution.
When I disconnect my note2 from the network and then my pc is the only device connected to the router, the speed is still bogged down to 10mbits. Only reboot helps it go back to 65-70mbits(90 signal, 100mbit connection so I think 70mbits is a good speed on wireless by through 2 walls).
I am still not sure at what moment the router decides to lock the speed to 10mbits... its hard to catch the moment when it bogs down but I can clearly see in windows networking graph in task manager that 10mbits is the ceiling as it flats out at that. Then magical reboot helps.
it must have something to do with connecting multiple devices to the network. But it sometimes happen and sometimes not. I could not recreate it at will. The same thing was happening with my older 1antena 150mbit 3 times cheaper router
