They are bit more "grounded" on the portrayed world physics. I´m not expecting for them to throw lasers from their eyes just a thoughter opponent but still bound to hack and slash medieval style ( I hope..). Something extraordinary was needed to push the north line and they fill the part. But if you keep trowing magical stuff they become less and less extraordinary.

I'm going to venture to guess they're remnants of the past where magic was a big part of the world and it resembled more of a generic fantasy world at that time it seems. It does fit the story as this has been mentioned since the first season and not added later on to spice things up.
Now i wish i could go into hibernation for a year
i´m ok with little bits. but really don't see any benefit to the story, for me it detracts from the "suspension of disbelief".
The dragons are also a blast from the past yet have been portrayed as common beasts, not magical creatures, so they don't appear as a strange element in the story.
watch some of the lore videos on youtube for quick information,
the children were the only race in westeros, long before the first men and the andals came (with the first men taking the north and the andals the south).
they were basically superhuman and capable of creation and destruction.
they actually destroyed the land that connected westeros to the eastern continent during a war,
and they also helped build the wall at the side of the first night´s watch by enchanting it with magic.
back then the children had their face-trees all across the land, before they were burnt down by the first men and andals.
eventually it came to a truce and the children moved more up north.
having read about the lore,
Spoiler:
i was really surprised that the children showed up in the finale
,
it wouldnt have as much impact if i didnt know anything about it.
the lore here is really important, alot of stuff that is never touched on in the show, and it makes you understand all the characters better.

Thanks for the insight
That explain the mismatch I feel with some arcane stuff happening
Where did Stannis' army come from? How did they get those masses of armies (on horses mind you) past the wall? Was it by ships from the side? Was it through the tunnels in the wall?
Not to mention Stannis seems to get around quick. To Braavos, then back, then somehow amass the army and make it all the way past the wall, all in...not that long?

Spoiler:
he got the money from the iron bank and bought his army in braavos, which is basically made up of fighters and sellswords, then took some ships across.
yep, stannis gets his shit done quickly, while other characters just manage to get up from the toilet and get to their bed, stannis attacks kings landing and gets a whole new army afterwards.
also he gets to fuck the smoking hot melisandre who turns his sperm into demons that kill other kings, so yea, even when he fucks, he kills.
he is my king
Good episode, although they missed the opportunity to include a great (and vital?) dialog between Tyrion and Jaime in the catacombs.
Spoiler:
In the books, they have a major fall out when Jaime confesses to Tyrion that the whore he married in his teens wasn't a whore after all. In anger, Tyrion then lies to Jaime that Cersei fucks around with everyone, including the court's jester, which initiates Jaime's big change of character regarding his sister.
Makes me wonder how it will happen then...
I wasn't surprised they left that out. After all, it was never mentioned in the series. Or if it was, it was so minor that I can't remember it. An average viewer would be "who the fuck are they talking about?".

agree. That's a change for worse. It would be far more logical if he shot Tywin for calling Tysha a whore, not Shae. Besides finding Tysha becomes Tyrions goal, doesn't it ? Stupid move imo.

Tyrion tells the story when Shae, Bronn and him are playing the drinking game in season 1. I think it's an important step in character progression, especially for Jaime. I really hope it will eventuelly come to that in season 3.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
Great season finale!
Too bad now one has to wait nearly another year for the next season
That battle between Brianne and The Hound pumped my heart up, because you can expect that in this show people can die out of nowhere and the battles look pretty real to me
@the previous posted video
Lena is such a hot and funny MILF man
I too thought it was a solid finale. Many excellent scenes, some really unexpected, gave a refreshing future to the series. I haven't read the books and never will, so I can only judge what I saw, and that was fucking great as far as I'm concerned.
Varys is such a great character. Now I wonder what will happen with both Tyrion and him, seeing as both completely lost their power and status, are useless with a sword, but both are very cunning and smart
10 months.... guess I have to read the books. which book are we at now? 3?
Different characters are at different places:
Lannisters: end of book 3
Arya: end of book 3
Bran: well into book 5
Brienne: well into book 4
Stannis: end of book 3
Jon: almost end of book 3 with one thing left open
Sansa: end of book 3
Daenerys: well into book 5
Theon/Boltons: well into book 5
Bear in mind books 4 and 5 run concurrently and are effectively one massive book. Also, a few other things from book 3 remain open and will likely be dealt with next season.
