Hmmm, when I installed the game I opted not to install punkbuster by mistake... is there a way for me to install it without uninstalling and reinstalling the game. I can't seem to find a PB executable on the disc?

You shouldnt be using ultra quality on a card like that. As all ultra quality does is enable the use of the highest detail texture sets. And that requires 512mb of video ram for it to run smoothly. In which case, I doubt your 7800GTX has 512mb of ram.

No, because in doom3, even if you enable ultra high quality mode, it automatically detects how much vram your card has, and thus won't run it with the high quality textures anyways.

yea they're 'game specific' drivers. I read an articlesomewhere about it. Its good in the sense they're constantly helping but it also highlights the problems and probably slows down further progress.

2. open it with editor and write "com_allowconsole 1" into it.
3. save and rename it to autoexec.cfg
4. run the game
then you can open it with the usual key (left of 1 / above TAB)

 ive completed the game. Cant really say it was a challenge really. It certainly wasn't repetative and boring like FEAR though. The only problem I found was the lack of subtitles. Well actually ANY form of subtitles. When in a mad fire fight it was hard to even hear the voice nevermind work out what was being said. Never the less the end boss was a lot like the half life / 2 boss. Pretty easy, in fact too easy. I did it (after dying twice and actually working out what had to be done) without getting hit once. Still 1 of the best games released this year and a solid 9/10. |

Can't get game to run...when I load the game it promts me for a CDKey, which I already put in in the loading of the game, and when i put it in again it tells me that key is already in use and wont let me go to the main screen

I have the vaseline exe applied but when I go to the public games browser nothing shows up. Does anyone else get this? I have the loopback for the DNS set and all that too.

1. does you firewall allow q4 to access internet
2. are you using peerguardian maybe? deactivate it.

He already said he has "loopback for the DNS set" - Delete the entry in the host file.

Yeah I deleted it before. Sorry i should have edited the post. Thanks for the help guys. Now I just need to figure out what ports to forward on my router to host a game.
