|
 |
My old pc (e660) is dying. It was running perfectly for the last 5/6 years at 3.4 ghz but it seems the end is near. It's also impossible to play any new games on some decent setings so i decided its time to get a upgrade.
Problem is that after years of having no money, i still have no money
and i kinda let all the new technology go straight past me, so i have no clue what to get nowadays.
Anyone can help me out with a nice configuration for about 600/700 euro?
I can only bring a old SATA drive from my old computer which i would use as extra storage but thats about it since even my dvdr drive is still IDE
My preference is Intel and Nvidia but if im better off, moneywise, with AMD i will settle for that.
I don't care much about having a SSD drive, the only thing i really need is a optical out on my motherboard.
I probably also have to sqeeze in another screen since my old one only has a vga connection
Thanks in advance

I might just use this as a sig
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IMO there are two ways to go about it:
- Top GPU (GTX780 or R9 290), 16Gb RAMZ, AMD FX8350+mobo
- Good GPU GPU(770 or R9 280), 16Gb (or 8, if the money allows it), i5-4670K+mobo
Looking at the "next-gen" derpsole hardware, I'd go with #1.
Most of the future games will be though with DS4 or xdurr as a lead platform (don't believe for a second when any developer tells you that PC will be the lead for their game, unless the game is exclusive to PC's), so might as well try and get as close as those machines as possible.
Now I'll go and dress

Haha you are welcome.
Been looking a bit to the prices of the items you linked but it seems i can never make a good setup (pricewise) with those options since i still need a tower, ram, hdd, power supply and dvdr drive.
I might just make it with the fx8350 and R9 280 but it will be really, really tight. Thanks for you input anyway
Any other recommendations maybe?

Quick 2 minute attempt for you: http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/bestelkosten/595430
FX-8320 instead of 8350 (not worth the money for 100 MHz more). Obviously I just picked some relatively random parts that may not be the cheapest or best choices, but it's easily doable
Although, skip the DVD-RW drive. The fuck do you need that for?

From time to time i need to burn something lol. Mostly for other people when i think of it .
Anyway, thanks for your input, very much appreciated
I think it will be something like that, still got a couple of weeks to go before i can order so at least i have a good indication in what i can expect.
@fable yeah the build from Tony is nice but the total will be too high for me. But maybe some prices will magicly drop

Haroldo is right, the FX-8320 is a better option since you can very very easily OC'it to those extra 100MHurrz
His post actually made me think of getting that CPU + Mobo + Memory but... just don't have the money

i know you said you dont care about ssd, but if you already have a decent hdd buy a ssd instead of that seagate. difference is really noticeable.

Yeah i know the difference is really noticeable but its more about the money. I prefer to buy a good basis now and add a SSD a bit later then that i have to buy a lower basis to include the SSD now.
Its nice to have super fast loading times but i dont believe it would matter much ingame.

Honestly, for anyone on a budget, the 8320 is still the perfect CPU. It's dirt cheap for the performance you get, it can still be overclocked pretty easily, the 990 platform it runs on is cheaper than Z87.
As for SSDs, they're slowly dropping prices again, this time due to competition, so yeah, just pick one of those up later when you have the money again. And it's not even as much for games and loading times as it is for general usage of your PC. That's something toni can probably confirm too, even on his system the SSD will have made the whole thing that much snappier

True, on *some* cases it felt like doubling the amount of RAMz.
Programs start faster (I noticed that the steam popups in particular and the app itself started flying instead of dragging as usual ), concurrent programs also start faster, much better loading times (duh), etc.
Also, while not being 100% sure it might have been a factor to eliminate the stuttering I had in BF4 completely but DICE's improvements along with better drivers might also have had a hand in that. Loading times went from 2min to 45s, very good too. And that's on a board without SATA3
I'd say to definitely keep it in mind as the very first next upgrade that you can do if you can't do it now. Oh and... get a 256GB one over the 128GB, I thought that 128GB would be enough since I had an HDD for most of the other stuff while keeping the SSD for windows+games+a few programs but stuff like BF4 and idcrap5 games laughed at my plans.

Yeah i know the SSD will give me a massive speed boost in most things but its just the finances atm. And besides if i get the SSD from the start im used to that speed in a week or so and if i add it later i get to experience the "wow i have upgraded" feeling twice.
Im a bit doubting about the power supply.
You recommended me this one
http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/253418/seasonic-m12ii-520w/specificaties/
but im thinking about
http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/256222/seasonic-s12ii-bronze-520w/specificaties/
Since its almost half the price i can fit in a better CPU cooler for some overclocking instead of the boxed version.
I should be fine with both power supplies right?
