I wouldn't mind having it on a tablet but consoles and PC dont need that
Today I didn't even need to use my AK. I gotta say it was a good day. (c) - Ice Cube

Why do they even bother?
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

If you ignore the poor graphics, touch pad UI, bad sounds and laughable voices it's not that bad.
I've completed 3 missions so far and the game could do a lot worse

It seems to be using the Xcom engine.
I just finished the first mission. Not sure how deep it goes, but it plays similar. Some of the cutscene models are really bad.

There is one really bad thing about this.
You can't alter a movement when an enemy is discovered.
In Xcom I believe your unit froze when they revealed and you could adjust movement, but it's the worse now. You just rush into enemy territory, after they get a free move and you get slaughtered. Bleeding happens right away, but you get no medkits, not for a few missions. So you lose a few people almost straight off because skitters are really OP. Free move + the seeming ability to move + attack + move again. and even on normal they seem to never miss while your guys often miss standing right on top of them.

well I played a few more missions of this.
This is basically X-com reskinned.
Which is not a bad thing. Gameplay is very similar with minor differences.
There are bandages in the game at the beginning they just don't mention it to you.
There is no base building, just various places where you build upgrades. Upgrading equipment makes it available to everyone, so you don't need to build individual pieces.
Similar character progression, choosing one of two skills for each level. You gather food, medical and metal
All can be used to buy upgrades, and food is also used to recruit new squad members. You can also use food to switch your trained skilled that you chose on level progression.
If you liked Xcom and need something different to play. I'd say give it a shot.
