He did indeed get a replacement mid-fight after Gregor broke the first one in 2.
Book involved, although nothing about coming events.
Spoiler:
What the fuck are people saying Oberyn's death was done "better" in the books and this was "unnecessarily" gruesome? I'm seeing that all over the web and I don't get it. Have they read the same fucking book? I hate it when a TV/film adaptation deviates a lot from the book(s) it was based on, but that's not the case here. Go read LotR and then watch the films, as magnificent and epic as they are - the material they left out from the books could've easily filled another full film.
In the book (if I remember this right), Clegane chops off half of a bystander's head after first chopping off most of his arm. He's also supposed to have a shield, use that to shield himself from the glare off Oberyn's helmet (which he does have in the book, albeit a partial one) at which point Oberyn sticks his speer in his armpit as the first major wound.
The final bit is then described as Clegane grabbing him, pulling him up to his chest. He *first* takes out the eyes, then knocks out the teeth. And finally he raises his fist, followed by a "sickening crunch".
While the last part can be interpreted in many ways, that "crunch" I've always associated with his skull getting utterly smashed. At any rate, the rest of the fight was much milder in HBO's version.

Yeah there is some false information out there, turns out it was pretty similar to the book.
People are so silly sometimes with their reactions, it's like their cousin died for real or something it's a fictional character I hope they realize that.
maniacs, it's called a reactions video how else are you gonna do it. They've also known to film themselves playing games, driving cars and climbing trees like monkeys.

I will only believe a "reaction" video if it is a -hidden- camera filming a person not knowing the camera is there.
It is not real when the person knows there is a camera and an audience expecting a reaction.
