Quick question: could I create a new Nintendo ID and change the country on my console to be able to grab one of the free EU games...better selection and I've got the titles for the US one already. Thoughts?

The console serial number built in is locked to the region it was built for. This is good/bad as you can take it where ever you want and still have it work on the eshop from its region.

Picked up Mario kart yesterday and it's really a solid game. Nothing all that new but playing classic courses and the new tracks with the HD graphics is a treat. The online play is super easy to jump into and works great as well. Really an easy purchase considering you get another game for free.

Just played it, and it's really amazing, exactly what I hoped it would be.
To me, it's kinda just like a Mario Kart 7 in HD, but MK7 was so great so I won't complain. Obviously graphics are miles miles better (and even impressive considering it does maintain a stable 60fps) and the gameplay is even better : the game is harder and that makes it a lot more challenging (at 150cc, i'm not a pussy to play MK at 50cc) ! Mastering drifting is a must-have if you wanna finish a race 1st, and that was not so important in previous MK games.
My only complain would be that the game is aliased compared to some other 1st party game on Wii U, 720p for sure and barely any AA.... But still, the game is perfect to me and definitely a system seller.
And yes, the game isn't just Mario Kart Wii running in Dolphin with all the bells and whistles : the gameplay is different and a lot better. Also the races have many hidden paths, some really hard to access, some others easier... It remembers me POD on that matter 
I also like that you can explode the blue shell now, but it's hard, because the Honk power up is quite rare.
Finally, I think it's funny to use the gamepad as a gyroscope, it acts as a steering wheel, you can even press on it to honk/launch a power up, or to access the map etc.
And I like the fact that you can see your character using its hands to launch a power up 
You can forget the disappointment that was Sonic And All Stars Racing Transformed on consoles, that barely ran at 20-30fps, with vaseline... This game not only runs at a stable 60fps, but graphics are even better !
Well done Nintendo, to the next game now... Zelda ?

It should assuming the copy included with the console is a disc and not a download code. Although even then I think you'll get a code for a free game.
You're better off finding a new old stock basic version of the console. That or just get a used deluxe.

Yes it should. The promotion works on both the physical and the digital game too anyway.

I forgot how frustrating the multiplayer in this game can be what with some of the bullshit items like the blue shell. Frustrating just enough that you keep coming back for more.

The battle mode really sucks though, no arena, only portions of main race... I dunno but I preferred it on N64.
That being said I couldn't care less about battle in this game, I always preferred the main races, but it's silly to have ruined a game mode for some reason (laziness ?).
You can dodge the blue shell if you have a boost and use the right timing

Game is very near close to perfect, I'm loving it. I never even bothered with battle mode in the past, so that part really doesn't bother me.
9.9/10!
.1 loss for bullshit that still happens like you're in 1st the entire race then right before the finish line -> blue shell -> red shell -> another red shell -> lightning -> 4th place FUCK YOU

The graphics really are impressive. All the new courses really do look incredible and I love how each course has its own wacko things that change throughout the race.

Nintendo hardly ever disappoints with its 1st party games, specially considering the lame hardware.
I hope it's a just few days (E3) till we see what they can do with the Wii U hardware and a proper Zelda game ?

blue shell ruins any mario kart game. the lack of battle mode (which is pretty much the most fun part with friends) also sucks.
not gonna buy a wii u until zelda comes out! (on that day, i'll own one!)

You can setup custom matches and turn off whatever power up you want. Wiiu is worth owning with 3d world and now this.
The game has battle mode just not special maps.

Dat Cloud race (i dunno its name yet !) is amazing... wow ! You are in the clouds, then the bowser boat then inside the clouds themselves, and it ends with the Mario Galaxy theme... I love it !
