The whole press gave in to the hype machine, there are some honest and precise reviews out however:

Eurogamer: 7/10

Basically those articles sums it up pretty well:

The rain effects are pretty good. I have to admit the missions are not superb - but the world and gfx are still great imho. maybe gamers that didn't like sleeping dogs like watch dogs Smile and vice versa.

Watch Dogs has forced me into lowering my expectations for every game shown at E3 this year. I won't ever fall for the hype of anything anymore.

Far Cry 4 probably won't be as good as Far Cry 3 - Check. The Order 1886 probably won't be that great - Check. Cod Advanced Warfare will be the same old shit as every other Cod game - Check. Destiny will be overrated and boring - Check. Drive Club will probably disappoint - Check. Uncharted 4 won't be as good as Uncharted 2 - Check.

There I just lowered all my high expectations for these games so I won't fall for any hype when E3 comes around. Lesson learned.

Hype for this game was way bigger...but it's still fun , having a blast with online hacking..many crazy moments there. It reminds me of first AC , so much hype...looked epic , and everything..and at the end it was the same as WD now. They have something to build on now , next one will be surely better. Off I go.. Very Happy

yep, after years of industry lies i make sure not to get hyped by e3 anymore.
i watch it to see which games *may* be interesting.

I don't remember Rockstar false advertising GTA series or downgrading 80+% their products. Personaly I didn't expect a masterpiece. It's a fun game for some hours. Tech side is mediocre and I find articles claiming the opposite "suspicious".

downgrading 80% ? Nah - I think Rockstar downgrades are somewhat 20% and Watch Dogs about 30% - if we are to speak in those terms. lmao. Back to WD now.
