Its not the first time nvidia have had hands in underhanded game goings on.
And to me if its business or not, it still harms gaming as a whole.

I have to agree with the article though as a whole its bad for pc gaming and competition as a whole, would suck if AMD went out of business and nvidia had free rain to rip off customers |
This will probably happen when google buy nvidia

Am I the only one who got worse results fps wise from the new nvidia driver compared to .81/82 beta?
1) Lenovo Legion 7 (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3080 16Gb, 32Gb DDR4, SSD 1TB +2TB
2) SFFPC (streaming via Moonlight+ Sunshine)

It's a typical Nvidia move, really.
On the other hand, ATI/AMD have only got themselves to blame - their drivers are legendarily shitty with features always being broken. My HD 7850 always suffered from some bug in the main Windows drivers - screen scaling being broken for example.
Then you had the huuuuge range of old games being hopelessly broken. As a retro gamer, this was very painful and unforgivable. NVIDIA has broken games as well but if NVIDIA broke 10-15 year old games, AMD broke 5-10 year old games.
Next to that, AMD had SERIOUS issues with shadows in many games. A relatively old game like NWN2 would stutter like mad if I dared to use high shadows - unforgivable!
All this has driven people away from AMD despite their cards being cheaper on paper compared to their performance. In reality, their cards and software just aren't as reliable. I never had a Nvidia card give up on me yet I had two ATI's die and my HD 7850 came out of the box with serious overheating issues due to bad ATI drivers not sufficiently powering up the fans when needed, a MASSIVE bug that required third party hacks to fix. UN. FOR. GIV. ABLE.

I'm not even gonna mention their pricing policy.
And no, I don't have AMD card atm.

It works fine here.

Did you even read your link?
Nvidia is cornering the market by being a jew, you are literally supporting the class that owns the entire world and will ultimately enslave us all.
Quote: | “Participation in the Gameworks program often precludes the developer from accepting AMD suggestions that would improve performance directly in the game code—the most desirable form of optimization.” |
That's not cool, bro.
You'll be the one with your dick in your hand once Nvidia has the entire market to themselves and thus the ability to charge anything they like for their cards, which will be severely overpriced with any form of competition or attempt to offer competent prices being bought out or shut down.
You brought this on yourself. Save this, upload this to your cloud, write it down...it's happening 10 years from now.

Agreed. I don't see any other reason to go with AMD besides the price. When I was able to afford Nvidia I never hesitated about it. Its the same story with my R9 290 now - I got it just because it was REALLY cheap because the guy bought it thinking he can unlock it to "X" but it wasn't one of those cards so he just wanted to get rid of it and get X right away. It was so cheap that it was cheaper than my 660Ti as new (at this moment). The card have 2 years warranty left so if anything goes wrong I can replace it. But my point is, I got it for its price and the performance jump compared to the TI doesn't need a comment. Otherwise I was aimed at 780 (probably Ti). This is my last time when I bother with AMD though. I will move on to Intel + Nvidia all the way when the need to upgrade comes. Seriously, whats the point to stay with AMD if we exclude the price as factor? You get less features, crappy support, terrible drivers, lots of small and annoying problems and higher power consumption (I don't really care about that though). I am saying this as AMD user. I've had more AMD hardware than Intel and Nvidia through out the years, but I just can't take it anymore. Its not about being fanboy or not, its about getting what you paid for and after so many years I finally realized why Intel and Nvidia are more expensive. Hell.. Nvidia are releasing new driver every week or two. AMD are doing the same but every MONTH or two...

I'm a reader of these forums ever since isonews went shit and I've never seen so much bullshit surrounding a game as in the case of Watch Dogs. I've looked at a lot of gameplay videos and I have not seen a single thing that explains the ridiculus system requirements. Either the developers are shit at what they do or Ubisoft got a lot of money from hardware manufacturers in order to keep the game's system requirements artificially high. We're living those stupid times again, when people go batshit crazy when they hear the word "NEXTGEN", and they can be easilly convinced - with some smart marketing and lying - to to rush the stores in masses in order to become "NEXTGEN-ready". Idiots.
I'm still waiting for the game that will make me want to upgrade my Core i3 2100 (3,1 GHz)/HD 4890 OC. Witcher 3 seems to be the potential winner. I almost did it for this game, but the BS mentioned above made me change my mind.

Well, as I said before... back when they first showed off the game, it was supposed to be an AMD Gaming Evolved title. Then they switched to Nvidia's "TWIMTBP" and after the delay, the crappy looking videos started to come out. I guess they had to delay the game to make it look ugly enough to work with GameWorks.
Nvidia GPUs are the consoles of PC gaming - mainstream and underpowered, holding PC gaming back!

Ok...
Sounds more like fanboy rhetoric than anything else.

The game runs perfectly fine on ultra on my oced 7950. Then again, I'm not playing with an fps-counter.
Doesnt make the game in itself any better though.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

The new drivers unfortunately didn't improve the performance in my case. Perhaps it's a ~5% improvement but doesn't really help when the average framerate is so low. Think I'll finish it at 30fps + gamepad, couch mode style. The game plays itself anyway.

I feel that people only buy nvidia only on the account of popularity or they just want to get the most overly priced card with no notable performance gains, or maybe they think that nvidia is more secure and safe, which isn't true. when in fact if you compare the two vendors, you're only gonna find that AMD is better all around especially in the performance/price ratio area.
Nvidia only hurts us PC gamers with their tacked on bullshit like PhysX and this GameWorks shit that fucks up performance for everyone not just AMD.

Watch.Dogs.Hotfix-RELOADED
Note
This is the Day 1 patch that was supposed to fix the most annoying game bugs
